This is for those of my older generation who do not comprehend why Facebook exists. Presently, I am trying to make friends outside of Facebook, while applying the same principles.
Therefore, every day, I go down the street and tell the passers by what I have eaten, how I feel, what I did last night, and what I intend to do tomorrow.
Then I give them pictures of my family, my dog, me gardening, and swimming in the pool. Then, I listen to their conversations, and tell them that I love them.

And...It Works....so far I have Three Followers...Two policeman, and a Psychiatrist.

Don, that is TOO FUNNY! How true! I remember when it started--even back in the days of My Space. Understand, I don't participate in either. I could not grasp the concept and still don't understand why in the world you would want anyone to know so much about you and who even cares? Well, I guess for some people it is a good thing. It's probably the best way to find out what is going on inside their family. In some ways, forums are similar but they're dedicated to subjects and discussion as opposed to me only. Plus, they are anonoymous.

Although my original post is "Humor", I tend to agree with the joke. I don't understand why people would put so much of their private lives on social media...for anyone with Internet access to see. They leave themselves wide open for everything from school bullying, to identity theft.

I don't understand it, either, Don. So I choose not to participate in Facebook or its ilk.

I can see its value when its used for locating long lost friends and/or relatives, otherwise its kind of childish
when members start "friending" or "Unfriending" each other.

Who cares what you had for breakfast or how your bowels are moving or how your barber's sister-in-law is
getting along with her new boyfriend?

Personally, I quit it the next day after joining and never cared to go back.

Gee, I go on to FB every day, usually multiple times. It has been great for me, and if I had to choose between FB and this forum, I'd choose FB. Yes, some folks over-share but it's pretty easy to just scroll past them.

I mainly use it to speak face to face with family and friends back home i alternate between facebook and skype. oh and i also read the news on there too.
