About your middle name ...

I'd toss it, and I've tried to do so. It's my understanding that we can use whatever name we want, as long as it's not for fraudulent purposes. But it isn't that easy.

As a teenager, I insisted on having a social insurance card without my middle name. Ten years later the card was stolen, and they issued a new one with it.

When I graduated from university, again I had to insist on not having my middle name on the paper. I never use it, so why have it?

I remember years ago reading in Readers Digest about a guy whose name was R. P. Jones. No names, just letters. When he went into the Army, he signed in as R. (Only) P. (Only) Jones. Of course, his dogtags said Ronly Ponly Jones.

In my late husband's family, everyone went by their middle names. Had to, as all the daughters had "Mary" as their first name.

My mother mas insistent that grandchildren shouldn't have her name. She was not too pleased when my brother gave his daughter mothers name as her middle name. Nothing wrong with Margaret - mother just didn't want it used. Mrs. L has three names, but only uses the third one.

Like so many of that era, I have my fathers name as my middle name ( Arthur ). Like it just fine, but never use it, but do use middle initial.
my nearest brother to me has 4 names .. none of them after my father.. but after 2 uncles.. and my dead twin brother

My eldest brothers' first name is the same as my father's as was my paternal grandfather and his father

Whereas, my grandmother was NOT happy that my sister who was born on her birthday wasn't given her name. Very not happy.
