According to this Mar 9 Time Magazine 68% of Americans feel the wealthy pay too little of the tax burden.

Especially the corporations. How can GE or Goldman Sachs average 2% to nothing and yet individuals wind up paying in the double digits.

Currently, the IRS Tax Codes consist of nearly 90,000 pages...89,000 of which are tax dodges and loopholes for the wealthy and the corporations. However, given that most of our politicians are "owned" by these very same Special Interests, it is unlikely that we will see much change...indeed, it will probably get worse.

Obama proposes $4T budget with tax hikes on the rich

Source: The Hill

President Obama on Monday sent Congress a nearly $4 trillion budget blueprint for 2016 that would raise taxes on the wealthy and businesses while boosting spending on infrastructure and education.

“These proposals will put more money in middle-class pockets, raise wages and bring more high-paying jobs to America,” Obama said in a message to Congress. “To pay for them, the budget will cut inefficient spending and close tax loopholes to make sure that everyone pays their fair share.”

Administration officials cast the plan as balancing the need for “investment” with fiscal discipline, but the Republican Congress will almost certainly reject the spending and tax hikes out of hand.

The proposal busts through the spending limits that were introduced under a 2011 budget deal, requesting $74 billion more in spending for domestic programs and the Pentagon than the caps would allow.

Did you hear about Emma Thompson and her husband declaring that they won't pay their taxes until HSBC (and CEO's) pay their taxes? There is another thread here on that but just mentioned it here as it's kind of a related incident.

Emma is my neighbour, well within a few miles anyway. HSBC is getting bashed for helping the wealthy pay no taxes by having Swiss bank accounts, among other things. Not quite sure of the exact details.
