Actor/Director Rob Reiner found dead in home, apparent 'homicide'

Not everyone with a history of addiction exhibits violence. But a former addict in a position of power can ruin lives by making bad decisions.
Drugs don't manufacture thoughts like kill, steal, lie etc. They make it easier to act on existing emotions or thoughts already in someone's head. Addicts are already impulse control challenged,

Thought I saw one report where they're multiple stab wounds and not just slit throats. That's anger and rage amplified or facilitated by current and previous use. Time high is time that could've been spent dealing with his issues & emotions in a sober manner.

I suspect the addiction was the result of using drugs to quiet the voices he was hearing and that were telling him to do things -- in this case to murder his parents.

So you think there will actually be a trial? Bet ya a Hershey bar that it'll never get that far for... well, one of two reasons I can think of. @ChiroDoc
You might be right, Miss Kate. I believe Reiner is being arraigned on Jan. 7, so that might provide a little more info. He may end up in a criminally insane institution.

BTW, what are the two reasons you're thinking about?

Mornin' @ChiroDoc . My reasons for believing there will never be a trial are 1) Jackson will be sure he gets an Incompetent to Stand Trial order issued, or 2) suicide (yes, he's on suicide watch, but sure wouldn't be the first time it happened.)

I don't know if this is a death penalty case, But I would bet AJ is going to try his hardest to make sure it doesn't become one. Then he'll prob go for a diminished capacity type of case..

*i obviously watch way too many crime shows*

For instance, instead of a pleasant 70F degree indoor cell environment, a lack of air conditioning for temperature unless temperatures reached some more extreme levels live below 60F or above 80F. Instead of access to cigarettes, coffee, candy, television, take those away. Instead of a range of enjoyable food, very basic boring, though healthy food. Instead of peace and quiet, listening to some speaker teaching correct behaviors and why not doing whatever will result in consequences. Much more in that vein.

Which prisons have you visited that have environments like that? Frankly, I've been to some and I have never seen nor heard of conditions like that.

In Norway and the Netherlands they have their cosy own room. I saw when 2 Dutch boys went to Area51 and he filmed in an American prison in the part for people with speeding tickets or something and that already looked horrible. They did have their own room but they heard people yell and scream and all because someone thought it was funny to send them the wrong way.

It'll be a death penalty charge, and Calif. does technically still have the death penalty on the books. But the present administration has said he will never allow an execution on his watch. 'Course his term is coming to a close.... But Reiner will never get the death penalty.
