Advice You Delight in Ignoring

When it is advice given to you directly (as opposed to a self help article) do you feel like you owe them any response?

I am thinking specifically about advice you don't think would work for you.

Or do you just think "I'm gonna pretend she didn't just say being a minimalist would make me happy."

I like the ducks. I don't think they're tacky.

I remember when everyone had ceramic roosters as decoration. I remember seeing them in upscale houses. Was that tacky too? To each their own.

Is it because the advice is bad or not really a good fit for you?

Or is it advice that is hard to do?
My daughter loves to call me and complain about things, but when I offer advice she gets offended. I think that she just seeks validation or sympathy but doesn't necessarily wish to change things.

I made a public post and some financial advisor used it as an opportunity to ask how I will plan for retirement.
I sent a reply that I will live long and prosper just like Mr. Spock advised.
Then I blocked this opportunist so that I wouldn’t see any more from him.
