After Attempting To Enter Flight Deck on SkyWest/Embraer/United Flight 175 He Leaps Out While Jet Is Taxiing

I think the other incident they mention in the one video was a Harry and Megan stalker?

Also some reports say the jumper jumped after an altercation but another report says he tried to get into the cockpit.

It wasn’t Flight 175, it was the plane, which was an Embraer 175. I instantly recalled Flight 175 as being one of United’s planes that were hijacked during 9-11. I would imagine charges are pending. Doctors were probably asked to evaluate the person for emotional distress, etc. The police are investigating the totality of the situation.

The guy probably tried to get the flight attendant to stop the plane and let him off and his next attempt was to ask the pilot to do so. When all else failed he opened the door and jumped out. What I find shocking is that he was able to open the door. Emotional distress? No kidding.

I don’t know what you meant by: “Emotional distress? No kidding.” Did you know that almost one-half of flyers have some degree of aviophobia? During my 33 years of flying, I can tell anyone that would ask that we have had several instances where a passenger would need to be seated in the aft of the plane with a flight attendant until they were calmed.

What the person mentioned in the post did was not only disrupt a flight, but also cause the airport some problems with having to close a taxiway and maybe even a runway. Doing this may cause several flights to be delayed and possibly traffic backups on runways.

Ohio's thread about teachers packing heat:
arm all passengers, let them shot holes in the fuselage at 20,000 feet-everybody dies.

Well I know I would have suffered zero emotional distress because once he opened the door of that jet I would have passed out.

I was just noting that maybe the guy had no other motive but to get off the plane.

One thing after 911 is mandatory lock on the cockpit. I always thought it was mandatory but apparently it was not.
Cockpit doors on U.S. passenger aircraft are secured. The failed attempt by this man to breach the cockpit proves how secure the cockpit doors really are.

Well, it depends. If a bullet doesn’t hit any wiring or hydraulic lines, or goes through the skin of the plane, but misses a fuel tank, it’s possible that nothing happens. However, if the bullet blows out a window, it is possible that someone could be sucked out. Let’s not find out.

I was offered the opportunity to keep a pistol in the cockpit, but turned it down. Having second thoughts after I retired, I thought maybe I should have given the offer more consideration.
