Alabama political leaders- that's the answer

The question- What's the most corrupt clan of Bozos on Earth?
This topic won't interest many folks, I expect. But I just couldn't keep from commenting on this good forum about this topic.
All three of Alabama's highest elected state officials- the governor, the speaker of the house, and the chief justice of the Alabama Supreme Court are under ethics and misconduct indictments at this time.
One has to keep laughing to keep from crying.
Living in a one party-state when you're not of that party is interesting.
Good day to all- Ed

We can do you better in RI. A governor, a speaker of the house, and a mayor of our capital city all have spent jail time recently for corruption...

Money and greed breeds power and corruption. The general make-up of the American political and /or electoral is money and greed. Corporate American donates the money which pays for the election of their preferred candidates, and as such , the candidates produce legislation and policies that favor corporate leaders. If one is uncertain of this, think how many successful campaigns there have been without corporate backing/funding.

I often wonder about judges. How is it that rich kids get in-home jail time and the lower income kids get sent to prison. I have commented on this before and so, I will do it again. I have seen prison sentences handed out so unfairly and in my opinion, were based on level of income. That's the only sense that I could ever make of it.

In reality my friend, money influences everything in life, up to and including the justice system. As all are not created equal, some lawyers are better than others, and one's ability to get sufficient legal representation is determined by one's ability to pay, which obviously leaves one up the creek, when appointed a lawyer by the state.

Not surprising. It's happening all over!

Alabama is a better place to live than where I live now, and I have experience for comparisons. It does more to help its residents than the state I live in now does.

Good evening to all-
Guitarist- good evening to you.
As a matter of fact, I have resided in the GREAT STATE of ALABAMA for more than twenty years. I used to live in Missouri. So I would say that my "uneducated opinion" is indeed an opinion, but hardly uneducated.
And I will Show You what I think of Alabama:
I love the place and the weather. I love SOME of the people here- I tolerate others. And I totally detest the political system and politicians here.
And if Alabama does more than your current residence to help its residents, then forgive me if express my fervent hope that I never live in your home state.
By the way, what guitar/guitars do you play? I love me some old Kalamazoo Epiphones- wonderful necks on those old guitars.
good evening to all- Ed

Politicians are Politicians....everywhere. It seems that some degree of corruption is ingrained in the psychic of most. I don't know about Alabama, but from the news in the past few years, It seems that Illinois, and Chicago, especially, has some of the worst politicians in the nation.

Not necessarily. I have been to court many, many times. I have seen unknown attorneys (public defenders) win cases from big shot Prosecutors and vice versa. I do agree that it doesn't hurt to have a dream team when confronting a jury and being charged with a major crime.

I'm glad to hear that, I always viewed the public defender's role as pretty much just arranging plea bargains for indigent defendants.

It really is tragic, but then again hilarious. We, the people, have the right to unbiased political leadership , and we can control this via the electoral process, but we are so brain washed and delusional from the propaganda thrown our way, we are unable to make sound decisions come time to vote. We are our biggest enemy.

Since when is shut up considered an appropriate response to a post we may disagree with, particularly from an individual who more than once has decried the lack of civility on this forum? Courteous behaviour applies to us all, I think. Pax.

You would think. But with so much rudeness on this board sometimes it's easier just to join the crowd than ignore it.
