Alec Baldwin's charges dismissed

IME, once the gun was declared "cold" as it was, it becomes a prop not a weapon and relieves Baldwin of the responsibility.

And when is OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) going make a rule declaring that no device capable of shooting a projectile should be on any movie set or in any theatre?

The investigation and multiple prosecutors are corrupt so HRG's conviction may be overturned on appeal.
You're right it is a possibility...if so it will be unjust... because she's guilty....

The armorer wasn't on the set that day Baldwin killed Halyna Hutchins, so why were firearms even out on the set and by whose authority?
According to an affidavit, Baldwin was handed one of three prop guns by assistant director David Halls ... not the armorer.

That policy wasn't following and the director, assistant director and Baldwin had to have known that. This wasn't their first movie. It all sounds pretty reckless, even negligent on their part.
No matter who hands an actor a gun, as far as the actor knows, it has been safety-checked at least twice. That's studio policy. Baldwin had no reason to think that hadn't been done. Prop cartridges and live rounds are never kept in the same box, on the same shelf, and they are easily distinguishable. Baldwin didn't load the gun. That isn't an actor's job. Neither are the safety checks.

Normal people do not get jail time for a totally accidental death. Someone falls off your boat and drowns. A roofer falls off your house to his death. Your breaks fail and your car takes out a pedestrian.

If the slug from my gun was found in a dead neighbor's heart, I'm only charged with manslaughter if I was handling the gun in a gun-free zone, or there's proof I was careless or drunk or high, or I'm prohibited from possessing a gun because I'm an ex-felon or some other legal reason. And if police had probable cause to believe I had a beef with the dead neighbor, I'd probably be placed into custody pending an investigation because that's an extenuating circumstance that says this could be a crime. Otherwise, it was an accident; there's no crime.

In general that would sound sensible, but with actors that would require the actors to have expertise about guns they might not have. If I got an actress job I sure wouldn't have a clue how to tell blanks from real bullets, at least not unless someone was going to train me. There supposedly is an armorer that is the person on a film set that is knowledgeable and responsible (and according to the linked article that person is serving a sentence for involuntary manslaughter).
You're absolutely right. An inexperienced person could have a gun go off just innocently trying to even check and see if it's loaded. The armorer has the job and the responsibility....period. I think some people would have a completely different opinion if it was another actor, sad to say.

I think you're probably right about that.

I am not an Alec Baldwin fan, either. He seems cocky and narcissistic, and he's not even a convincing actor...except when he's playing an arsehole, so I assume that comes naturally. But that has nothing to do with this case.

I agree. Baldwin's best roles are when he plays himself.

NYT -The judge is quoted as follows:

"While dismissing the involuntary manslaughter case against Alec Baldwin on Friday, the judge did not hold back.

She delivered a searing criticism of the prosecution and state law enforcement officials who oversaw the case, declaring that they had intentionally and deliberately withheld from the defense evidence related to the fatal shooting on the set of the film “Rust.”

“If this conduct does not rise to the level of bad faith, it certainly comes so near to bad faith as to show signs of scorching prejudice,” Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer said.

The judge’s decision to end the case against Mr. Baldwin — without the option for the prosecutors to revive it — was the conclusion of a shocking day at the Santa Fe County Courthouse, in which a high-pressure trial against a movie star turned into an interrogation of the prosecution’s conduct. And it came after a series of missteps by different teams of prosecutors left Mr. Baldwin in legal limbo for more than two years."

I hope he sues the investigative agency, the investigators, and the prosecution and wins.

I am not an Alec Baldwin fan by any means but I agree with those who feel he shouldn't have been charged. @Murrmurr mentioned that two people are responsible for checking gun safety before handing it to him. I thought it was just the armorer. If two people indeed were responsible, 1. Why didn't either of them know that there was live ammo in the gun?
2. Who brought live ammo in the first place? I saw or read that live ammo is not permitted on the sets.
It still crosses my mind that someone set him up.
3. And why would the head prosecutor not know that the bullets were assigned another docket number?

He was visibly relieved after years of this nightmare. I can't believe it happened almost 3 years ago. Maybe this experience will have humbled him a bit Murr.

"In a stunning move Friday, Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer has dismissed the indictment against Alec Baldwin. The case was dismissed with prejudice, meaning prosecutors cannot bring it back."

I read that Baldwin was cutting corners to keep costs down one of which was to hire an inexperienced armor. HG may get out of prison now because of the hiding of evidence. It was a foolish decision by the prosecutor.

I read that a professional acquaintance and friend of his recommended her. The person did say she'd accept entry-level pay because she didn't have a whole lot of experience, but he also said she was skilled and had a very good teacher.

Mr. Baldwin will live with his conscious the rest of his life.
Please teach your children to keep their hands fingers off the trigger
until their targets is in there firearms sights & then put in the finger and fire.
Please make sure they understand the Liability of their action.

You always see the finger slowly pulling the trigger and thats all wrong.
Find the target, get the firearm in the general sighting of the bulls eys
then put in the trigger finger and slowly pull the trigger. Vids and TV
got it all wrong. Safety first, keep the firearm safe at all times.

TV's and Movies of it had it all wrong. Its like bragging about a 1200 HP EV. Stupid is all that going on here.

I'm sure he's relieved and anyone would be. On a personal note, I think he acts like a JA in public most of the time, like many of the self entitled so called celebrities. I have enjoyed his acting is several movies that I have watched more than once, but worshiping celebrity I think mostly occurs in the shallow end of the gene pool.
