All Things Pagan Thread

Actually the term Pagan is a more modern term and over the years the definition has changed.
In Christ's day they did not call people Pagan.....Mostly Gentile. Some one that worships gods different than Judeo-Christian Gods.
Then you got Wicca.
Islam-Muslim beliefs are a corruption of the Jewish beliefs that occurred around the 7th century AD.
The Quran is a rewriting of the Hebrew Bible.
When the Apostle Paul started converting "Pagans" to Christianity the changed their religious beliefs but retained their Pagan culture and Christianized their holy-day-Holidays. Our wedding ceremonies come from the Gentile-Christians that Paul converted. So too our Sunday worship and Christmas and Easter from the 4th century Ecumenical Councils.
Evergreens play a big role in Pagan customs but Santa Claus and the Christmas tree
The custom was developed by Protestant Christians who brought decorated trees into their
homes, and it was Martin Luther who is credited with first adding lighted candles to an evergreen tree in the 16th century. The Christmas tree became a prominent part of the holiday's festivities in Germany by the 19th century and was popularized in Britain by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert in the 1840s. The tradition spread to the United States in the 1820s, and by the 1870s, Christmas trees were a firmly established tradition in American homes.

Yes, there are many, many examples of the varied facets of Paganism in Christianity and our modern, everyday lives, (Ex: birthday candles.)

In the itching there is Hexagram called the well/nourishment. It tells of the condition of the well to provide nourishment either with poor or good quality.

Many think that the well represents our immediate environment including our body. To feed on positive energy instead of the negative energies.

Hexagram 48: The Well (Jing)

The Well represents your Immediate Environment. The classic saying for this hexagram is: "The town may be changed, but the well cannot be changed." * The Source: The well is the "hidden" energy of your 23 acres. No matter how much the news changes or how fast the world moves, the "water" (the life force) of your land remains the same.

  • The Condition: If the well is neglected—if the "mud" of anxiety and bad news settles at the bottom—the water becomes bitter and makes you sick.
  • The Environment as Nourishment: This hexagram teaches that you must maintain the well. If you "clear the silt" by turning off the news and focusing on the birds and the trees, you are cleaning your immediate environment so it can feed you positive energy.

Interesting, Paco. Thank you for sharing. 🤗

I LOVE that coat. I saw one very similar to this on Etsy but lost the link. That’s my kind of style. Sorry if it’s not very Paganish but I just HAD to mention it
Patty, did you add the part about the post not being Paganish (which is absolutely fine, btw ;) ), after the fact? I don't remember seeing it or I would have responded. 🤗

I put that in right before you answered me cause I didn’t want to get off track from your desired topic. I appear to be good at derailing topics and I didn’t want to do that to you. You’d already copied my post before the addition.

I haven't noticed that about you at all. 🤗 No worries; I just didn't want to miss or not reply to something you'd posted. ;)

I've been thinking, again, about my abundance jar and my daily incantations spoken into it. Again, I've become frustrated that a small hill of gold hasn't appeared on my porch and again, I've come to realize that my life is, in fact, quite abundant. In truth, I have everything I need and most of what I want.

Goods and groceries are delivered to my door nearly daily. Every day I eat fresh fruits, whole chicken breasts, veggies, etc. I wake up and drink my favorite coffee every morning. I am safe, comfortable and well fed. I have all the medicines I need and can see a doctor when I need to. I am well loved and I love well. What else do I want?

When I really think about it, I don't actually know. So, my spells into my abundance jar are becoming more and more focused on gratitude. ❤️

ETA: I was talking with husband about this and he mentioned that that is perhaps part of the magick of the abundance jar; helping me to see and appreciate the richness of my life. --He's so freaking cool.

Yeah, this. LOL I'm glad you posted this, Trila. I was going to put something up for the equinox but this does nicely. :)

We are not "celebrating" the Spring Equinox this year as I'm just not feeling it and neither is husband. Usually, if I'm going to mark this day, I do it with new plantings and peanut butter bird feeders; maybe a dinner. But we have the smart bird feeder now and I'm not feeling like planting anything just now.

But that's what's nice about our holidays; we celebrate the ones we want to when we want to and how we want to. Which is freaking lovely.

It is nice though, that it is the equinox and spring has officially arrived! Yay! Thank you for posting here about it. 🤗
