Am I the first for this Chirstmas treat?

I am proud to report that I have purchased and eaten my first box of chocolate covered cherries. It is something I just can't resist. Of course it wasn't that long ago you could get a box for .99 cents. Now they can run up to four dollars a box and instead of twelve you get 10.

I used to hide them in my closet or I would never get any. When my son was little he would get a knife or fork and dig out the cherry. Put them back in the box, leaking everywhere, and think I would not notice. I guess that is a good thing, he is married, in his own home and has to destroy his own chocolates.

What is your favorite sweet Christmas treat?

Ummm.... uhhhh.... you are not the first, nope. 🤫 I had my favorite... the French Vanilla Cream kind a couple of weeks ago. 🍒 Now if you've had eggnog this season yet, you beat me on that one. 🤭

My mom loved those, I don't really like them as much as some other types of candies, but I like them more as a reminder of my mom. I wish I could find a one or two piece package, because of all the sugar (if I bought a box I would freaking eat a box, oh wait, our building is having a potluck, maybe I could buy a box and take it there and just restrain myself to one piece!).

Glad I'm not the only chocolate covered cherry freak. I like the dark chocolate ones. Didjuno that you can get chocolate covered blueberries, too? Swoon!

Commercial egg nog is way too syrupy for me. When I have it, I cut it half and half with milk. Maybe more than half and half, maybe 1/3 egg nog and 2/3 milk.

The first sweet treat I had with husband was a box of Nestlé Turtles. He would be bringing two large boxes on the night we'd be getting the decorations underway.

There's nothing similar to this here. We miss them. However, got a homemade recipe. Also Almond Bark from Laura Secord. Yup, make homemade there as well....

Ooooo! Petit fours. Chocolate orange. Turtles.

My grandmother always had filled hard candies. I liked the ones with raspberry filling and the peanuts with peanut butter. Yum.

I bet The Old Country Store has the filled hard candies. I'm off to their website 🏃‍♀️

ETA: It's the Vermont Country Store. The only variety filled hard candy is individually wrapped. Fooey.

ETA: Update...there's another one in a cute tin, but $20 for a pound? Guess I'll just remember what it tasted and smelled like 😲

I absolutely despise chocolate covered cherries.

Perhaps you mean the kind that sort of "pickle" in the shell after they're wrapped in sugar paste and dipped, to become a syrup?

There are others that use a mostly-dried cherry and just chocolate. More like a big chocolate covered raisin, but not as tough.

Had Cherry Vanilla Ice Cream last week
Working my up to Chocolate Covered Cherries
They aren't in the check-out aisle yet ... always are sooner or later in the season

My Grandfather, Pop, always gave each of the family girls and women, a box of Chocolate Covered Cherries.
So say what you will about them ... I got family memories that make me smile ❤️

They make it thick anticipating people will use rum to dilute it. It tastes good that way but I use milk these days.
