Am I the first for this Chirstmas treat?

Ummm.... uhhhh.... you are not the first, nope. 🤫 I had my favorite... the French Vanilla Cream kind a couple of weeks ago. 🍒 Now if you've had eggnog this season yet, you beat me on that one. 🤭
I am not the one for eggnog. That was the son and I used to buy it for him as soon as it was available.

Glad I'm not the only chocolate covered cherry freak. I like the dark chocolate ones. Didjuno that you can get chocolate covered blueberries, too? Swoon!

Commercial egg nog is way too syrupy for me. When I have it, I cut it half and half with milk. Maybe more than half and half, maybe 1/3 egg nog and 2/3 milk.
I have never heard or seen the blueberries but I would certainly eat enough to have a belly ache!!

When my son was little he would get a knife or fork and dig out the cherry. Put them back in the box, leaking everywhere, and think I would not notice. I guess that is a good thing, he is married, in his own home and has to destroy his own chocolates.
That reminds of my brother (& he wasn't little) would take a small bite out of the chocolates until he found one he liked. Mom called him out & was ready to beat him, LOL.

My favorite Christmas sweet is marzipan covered in dark chocolate. The marzipan can either be in candy, cookies or stollen.

I liked marzipan candies and usually received a box of them for Christmas.

Now you're talking my dear old MIL made marzipan candies at Christmas - always including a russet potato shaped one. I loved those!

I am proud to report that I have purchased and eaten my first box of chocolate covered cherries. It is something I just can't resist. Of course it wasn't that long ago you could get a box for .99 cents. Now they can run up to four dollars a box and instead of twelve you get 10.

I used to hide them in my closet or I would never get any. When my son was little he would get a knife or fork and dig out the cherry. Put them back in the box, leaking everywhere, and think I would not notice. I guess that is a good thing, he is married, in his own home and has to destroy his own chocolates.

What is your favorite sweet Christmas treat?
A sweet thread to start off the Christmas season. Thank you for thinking of it.

My grandparents were dirt poor. But, my grandfather loved chocolate covered cherries so his children made an extra effort each year to supply them to him at Christmas. My grandmother made homemade egg nog. I can can remember it from my childhood. It was the best stuff. With a little touch of bandy. Today's store bought varieties bare no resemblance.

You will probably laugh. My favorite Christmas treat is fruitcake. I love the store bought variety that often is stale. Not big on the homemade stuff. I can't explain it. But, this one store bought item I really love at Christmas.

Yummo, Christmas cake was my pick for a lovely treat. My grandmother loved to make Christmas pudding. She mixed all the ingredients and then added little silver "good luck charms" into each one. If there was any left over the next day, she would fry each slice in butter and serve it hot with custard.

I’m not young and I take a nibble out of a chocolate. and if I don’t like it, I give it to my husband. He won’t throw it away. I won’t eat any junk calories I don’t like. I definitely won’t be eating any cherry chocolates. Bleh.

Ooh, dark chocolate covered cherries! Mah mouf is a-waterin'.

I'm also looking forward to some indulgence in some peppermint bark, the dark-and-white chocolate kind.

Past the lips.
Past the gums.
Look out, hips,
Here it comes!
Remember this cherry centre peanut-covered chocolate delight treat that came in its own wee box? Called Cherry Blossom!

Ooh that was yummy! Providing you didn't suffer from peanut related allergies, right?

I used to love them. Also boozy chocolates. But I don't eat dairy anymore. WINCO Foods, in their bulk section, I found some individually wrapped dark truffle candies. I can't remember the brand. I allowed myself one handful grab from the barrel. I think this is the 3rd time I bought them. They are good and all gone.

Just use my method to that rule,, take your hand, pick up a bucket in one hand, scoop the bucket in, what ever is in the bucket can be considered a handful.......

I'm with you, Blessed. One of my favorites since boyhood.
my fav too. I just finished my first box today. My mother always gave each of us 3 kids a box every Christmas. She died many years ago on Dec 13th and in her fridge there were 3 boxes of the cherries for us. Best cherries I ever had!

Back from Mainz,Germany where we had some great meals. Opposite the hotel was a German restaurant where we could get Schweinhaxe and genuine Wiener schnitzel, made with veal. Our favourite restaurant 'Schinderhannes' closed when the owner retired, but I believe has had reopened, more as a sort of bar/bistro.

I'm not making anything so fancy today - just pork chop with creamed mushrooms and spatzles.

Try the Luxardo cherries which are the original maraschinos. Trader Joe's also has their brand of Luxardo around this time of year which are also pretty good. I use them in drinks as well as torte decorations. The left over syrup is also good over ice cream.

I bought two more boxes yesterday, I was surprised to see that my Walnart dropped the price to 1.97 a box, The price at CVS was 4.99 a box, Isn't funny (or not) that things vary in price from one store to another!
