have some extra avocado toast. It will improve things greatly.Well pooh... could this day get any worse?!![]()
Yep, just like people are entitled to keep having more and more kids they can't actually afford and expect the government to provide for so they won't have to.With respect, children are entitled to not be starved, beaten, sexsh ly assaulted, trafficked, etc.
The horrors I described cut across all levels of class structure, from the rich elite down to the poorest of the poor. This former child sx slaveYep, just like people are entitled to keep having more and more kids they can't actually afford and expect the government to provide for so they won't have to.
It's not that I've never heard/seen the term on the internet, it's that I haven't come across it in real life. Nobody has ever said "OK, Boomer" to me, or disparaged my generation in ways I'd disagree with. Some of the responses make me wish I'd never bothered to post. For those of you who haven't heard the term "Boomer" and all the perceived negative cr@p that goes along with it, haven't ever heard a jeering "Hey, Boomer," I say y'all live in a vacuum.
it's not about having friends of all ages with all due respect Star... this rhetoric from the younger generation toward seniors is everywhere..on twitter ( X).. and every social media platform that the young use.. .. even on our Talk shows the younger ( under 40) audiences are absolutely adamant that they have the right to this world and we older people are stealing it from them...It's not that I've never heard/seen the term on the internet, it's that I haven't come across it in real life. Of course, this may be related to my own practice of being respectful, supportive and admiring of many of younger generations' attributes and openly defending them when I hear/see them attacked. Including on this forum. Respect begets respect.
I'm fortunate to have true friends across several age groups and generations.
you don't have to be someone who posts on those social media platforms to know what's going on. I certainly don't post there but I'm very well aware of what's being said because it's reported in the mainstream media.. and as I said also on our political discussion showsSo as I suspected, those that might be "tired" of that supposed bashing, are those actively on post smartphone social media where such is being spewed.
In many ways as someone viewing from the outside, post smartphone social media on the matter seems to be echo chambers the main news media has obviously mostly ignored probably because they looked at the phenomenon and noticed it was mostly undefensible emotional whining by small minded types with agendas. And obviously one of their agendas is to annoy the rest of us.
As I've related many times, the real source of many societal problems today is Wall Street, their Ivory Tower university elites, economic driven globalization advocates. For most of the so-called "boomer" decades, it was those same economic institutions embers from the earlier post WWII generation that held power.
Hmm... Yes, as some people up here have asked, provocatively, "What kind of world are we leaving for Keith Richards?"Given what we've left behind, are they wrong?
I can see why you would feel that way. Some of the responses make me wish I'd never bothered to post. For those of you who haven't heard the term "Boomer" and all the perceived negative cr@p that goes along with it, haven't ever heard a jeering "Hey, Boomer," I say y'all live in a vacuum.
Thanks, Dilettante, "Idiocracy" is free to watch on youtube. I'll watch it when I can.You need to watch the beginning of "Idiocracy."
But much of the world is actually in a state of demographic collapse right now.
Respect begets respect.
I rarely run into disrespect and try to defuse or ignore it when I see it... and disrespect begets disrespect.
Ah, perhaps that's the issue. I rarely check into FB and am not on X, tik-tok or any other social media platforms besides this one and don't watch broadcast TV or listen to talk shows. Sounds like I'm not missing anything of value.it's not about having friends of all ages with all due respect Star... this rhetoric from the younger generation toward seniors is everywhere..on twitter ( X).. and every social media platform that the young use.. .. even on our Talk shows the younger ( under 40) audiences are absolutely adamant that they have the right to this world and we older people are stealing it from them...
Avoiding the hyped media content that's proliferated everywhere is really the best policy, for maintaining a normal balanced view, and mental health.Ah, perhaps that's the issue. You are most certainly not missing a thing!Ah, perhaps that's the issue. I rarely check into FB and am not on X, tik-tok or any other social media platforms besides this one and don't watch broadcast TV or listen to talk shows. Sounds like I'm not missing anything of value.
The extraordinary number of deliberately misleading, completely false, and highly divisive statements that assaulted the American public via news outlets and social media several years ago was so stressful, maddening and anxiety provoking that I stopped reading it altogether. I gave up reading the news each morning, all but paused FB for several years, and voila, my mental state and happiness index improved dramatically.I dunno. I read X (Twitter) and find lots of up-to-date info posted there from a lot of people and organizations. Very useful and/or entertaining stuff.
I haven't heard any "OK Boomer" comments there, though.
Just because you hear a comment about something does not mean the whole thing is worthless. Ya know?![]()
...and neither do I...but its reported from there on lots of media sitesAh, perhaps that's the issue.
