Am I the only person in the world who listens to 45 records?

Are there any others out there who listen to 45's? I just got Handyman and The Fool in the mail and I'm in Heaven!! (My first husband threw my collection away.)
I know, first eight tracks, then cassettes, then CD's, but I'm still stuck in 1959! Am I the only one?

Dya mean Jimmy Jones handyman?... I still have that original 45 in my attic from when I was a youngster, it's got Good timin' on the other side if I remember rightly.. and I'm sure I do... I haven't got anything to play 45's on, but I still have them all from my youth...

I've got quite a few that my mother and grandmother played when I was a boy - they are powerfully sentimental for me. I don't have a record player anymore, but I digitized all of them years ago, so they're on my iPhone and iPad now. What I do listen to now and again is my old Victrola - inherited from my grandmother, along with a lot of records, including some recordings of Caruso from the first decade of the 1900's - still playable, and again, much sentiment, remembering Grandma winding the spring and singing along with the arias...

I trust you sacked your first Hubby.

I have a lot of 45s, but haven't listened to them recently, although occasionally I will play an album. I have the original 45 jackets for some of them, including the Beatles, and they are in very good, although not mint, condition.

Gaer, if you're stuck in '59 I could say I'm stuck in '69. Amazing year for me.

It depends on the equipment. I doubt you can buy a player for 45's. I still have an eight track player but can't find the tapes anywhere. The radio is still good.

'70-73 for me... ( although I love all music of the 60, and most of the 70's) those 3 years were my best years... but if I was to choose one it would be 1970..

@hollydolly
Oh, 1970 great for me too. Met my Scottish boyfriend, George, on train from Amsterdam to Berlin. Remember standing with him on a corner and hearing "Immigrant Song" by Led Zeppelin for the first time.

My great times began in '67 I would say.

I have my mother's old gramophone, a Danset I think
and a couple of her LPs, 33s not 45s.

I have never used the machine, but it was working when
she died in 2001.

Mike.

I have a mess of 45's left from when I had my Wurlitzer jukebox. The man that bought the jukebox didn't want the remaining records that I had and would occasionally alternate with the records that were already in the box. Well, maybe he wanted them, but wasn't willing to pay the price. I gave him what I thought was a very good deal.

If you happen to be looking for a special one, maybe I have it.

I have plenty that I could listen to but my equipment is so old it probably wouldn't work and my 45's are too scratchy to even enjoy. So, my 45's and albums are just sitting in my stereo cabinet.
I have my old turntable right in my living room and listen to these all the time! I doesn't fit with my contemporary decor but who cares? I love it!

I was lucky when I was growing up because a friend of my Dad's job was to full juke boxes. He always give my Dad the newest records for me and my sister. I still have hundreds of them and am hoping to get a new record player for them. I know when I do I will be listening to them all day.
Do you know what years your stockpile includes?

Yes, I'm looking for "I'm gonna be strong" by Gene Pitney and
"Baby, I need your lovin" by Johnny Rivers.
but, I'm sure you have more important things to do than look through records! Thank you though!
Ah ... Gene Pitney and Johnny Rivers send me into another world! I listen to my 45 records all the time, sing along and dance around with my dog.
Yes, I'm weird!

I haven't seen a 45 in decades. We have a few CDs but they have not been played in at least a year, maybe two.
