Americans sisters deported for nude photos at holy temple in Cambodia

In Thailand there were signs at Buddhist temples which indicated knees and shoulders should be covered. It is disrespectful not to but you were not chastised if you didn't. In Bangkok at the Royal Palace and temple you are not allowed in if you are not properly covered. They will rent you sarongs etc so you can go in. I kept my sarong in the car for when we stopped at temples.

We saw many tourists ignoring the signs at temples on the island.

There is an attitude growing amongst the young that people don't have a right to feel offended. Or should I say "other" people.

Yes, freedom of speech and behaviour gone too far.

At Bangkok airport there were notices about how images of the Buddha should not be displayed, including tattoos. A woman with a Buddha tattoo was deported from another country not very long ago.

Thanks, don't get to see the rears of biker chicks go roaring past at this time of the the year. Miss seeing some of those spring busters...:eek:nthego:

I always wonder with these people who seem to think they have a right to offend others, how they might react if someone were to intentionally disrespect something that is important to them? Do they get all self-righteously indignant? And on what grounds and how do they justify their anger in that instance?

They just don't seem to care and find it fun. A**holes. When my son was in Iraq he said some of the soldiers would be disrespectful or make comments to Muslim women just to be nasty. Lucky they weren't executed.
