It seems anything I think would be good has a rental fee attached or comes with ads. Not fair, I already pay for Prime.
Oh yeah...how could I have forgotten Reacher?!!! I loved the series (only 8 episodes) and intend to watch it again. Can't wait for S2.No one has mentioned Game of Thrones yet, still streaming on HBO Canada.
Downton Abbey the series is on HBO too.
More recent, Yellowstone, Reacher, on Prime
DD and i are watching Stranger things together now on her days off, started 2 weeks ago and into S3 already. i watched Sweet Tooth S1 with my Grandson during their 2021 visit. If a 2nd Season up and he hasn't watched it yet we may watch together curing upcoming visit. When my kids were young i often watched shows they were drawn to with them as it they can be excellent conversation starters that teach kids elder can listen to their opinions and feelings, and can give elders insight to how the kids' minds work.Everyone I know who's watched Stranger Things (Netflix) loved it...this spans across generations, same for Sweet Tooth. The movie Extinction (Science Fiction, Netflix) was also very good IMO. My honorary son told me to watch The Foreigner; he assured me it's very good. It's on my list but I haven't gotten to it yet.
On Prime, I absolutely loved My Spy starring David Bautista. It's a heartwarming comedy about an FBI agent who gets busted by a smart as a whip 9 year old who's mother he's been tasked to spy on because her brother-in-law is a major criminal. I watched it twice. I'm watching Out of Time about a time traveling G-man tasked with catching parasitic aliens who inhabit humans' bodies with the end game to destroy humanity. He partners with a female officer who doesn't know what to make of him but continues to help him with his quest. It's a somewhat quirky film which is keeping me intrigued. If you like Horror, my oldest grandson told me to watch Train to Busan. It's subtitled and gory but I've seen worse and it's keeping me interested. I started watching Wheel of Time, a period piece but I haven't finished it. I'm sure you can find trailers for all of these either on Netflix and Prime or on YouTube. Trailers might help you to figure out if any are worth the full investment of your time.
How old are your twin grandsons? My grandson Liam, who is on the spectrum, is 13. When the family was being screened to receive assistance for therapy (which helped him regain verbal skills) the interview felt his Dad, my son, was likely neurodivergent but undiagnosed like many Boomers and Gen X folks.I just finished "Love on the Spectrum." It is about young people with autism who want to get married and how they go about meeting and dating them. It is on Netflix and there are 2 series .... one in the U.S. and the other in Australia. I enjoyed both of them. (They are reality shows though, for which a couple of you expressed dislike.) My twin grandsons are on the spectrum, so I was quite interested in watching both series.
@feywon - My grandsons just turned 12 and finished their first year of middle school. I don't know if my son, their father, or his wife were ever diagnosed as neurodivergent. (I had never heard that word and googled it just now.) The twins were diagnosed at age 3 and have received special help since then. They have been in a regular public school since kindergarten. How old are your twin grandsons? My grandson Liam, who is on the spectrum, is 13. My other son, his twin, from what i've learned over the years is likely undiagnosed but on the spectrum but since he didn't have diagnosis was able to join the Navy and serve for 20 yrs.
Join the club! There are so many shows/episodes on my Watchlists that it's ridiculous.Thanks. My list is getting longer.![]()

I added a comment about Downton Abbey after you replied to me.Right on!![]()
You're right...one really has to search Prime to find the good stuff. I just did another search this morning and added a couple of things to my watchlist. I like Karl Urban, but after seeing trailers of The Boys, then watching the first five minutes of it convinced me it's not a show I want to see. Meg Ryan, mother of one of the leads (Quaid) said she won't watch anymore of it because of the violence, some of it against her son's character. If I wasn't getting Prime free courtesy of my cell phone company (MetroPCS), I wouldn't have it.I can’t speak to Netflix, but I do have Prime, and was determined to wrest some value out of it, since the videos are part of the annual fee. There’s some gold amidst the abundant dross on Prime, but you have to search for it, and cagey Amazon requires additional fees beyond what you’re already paying for a number of newer or “hot” movies. It’s all about money, really, and getting more of yours!
If you wait several months, most of those “rent” or “buy” movies will eventually be offered as part of the general Prime membership. They do offer some unique series like The Boys, about a group of flawed genetically and biochemically-engineered superheroes with moral and ethical impairments, and business and political commentary thrown in…
