An old woman on a train

An old lady spills her coffee on the floor of a train.

A girl sitting next to her jumps away so it does not splash on her clothes.

A young man standing nearby sees all of this while the old woman is struggling to clean the floor and herself.

The young lady does nothing except looking disdainfully at the helpless old lady.

The young man jumps to her rescue, and next comes the unbelievable.

He takes off his shirt in front of everybody on the train while they are wondering what he will do next.

And then he does what nobody expected: he wipes the floor with his shirt, while the young girl who jumped away is now looking at her cell phone.

This gesture of goodness is well received by the old lady, and he receives a hug from her. The young lady who was sitting next to the old lady was her own granddaughter.

What we can learn from this is that SOMETIMES IT TAKES A TOTAL STRANGER TO COME TO YOUR RESCUE WHILE YOUR FRIENDS AND RELATIVES RUN AWAY FROM YOU.

Why would someone clean the floor of a train, especially with their own shirt? Pepper's right. Sounds like a mental case.

I keep seeing these silly "skits" on my FB feed and don't know how to get rid of them. The acting is usually dismal at best... phony baloney. There are quite a few of them floating around. Sure the "message" is always a good one, but the delivery is ridiculous. Hope those actors and actresses didn't get paid.

Let's remember that this is an internet fable made up by who-knows-who, rather than a true story.

In real life, few granddaughters would be so disdainful and nobody would bother to wipe up a train car's floor - including the spiller - never mind a stranger stripping off his shirt to do so.
Bingo! Right on point as usual StarSong!

This is like this song I heard this morning... :)

Verse 1:
She was riding her bike down the street
The wind in her hair, the sun on her feet
But then she hit a bump and took a fall
And scraped her knee on the pavement, oh

Chorus:
But then two koalas came to her aid
They tended to her wounds and stayed
They carried her to safety, oh
And made sure she was okay, oh

Verse 2:
She was feeling scared and alone
But then the koalas came and made her feel at home
They gave her a hug and wiped away her tears
And whispered in her ear, oh

Chorus:
But then two koalas came to her aid
They tended to her wounds and stayed
They carried her to safety, oh
And made sure she was okay, oh

Bridge:
Sometimes we all need a little help
When we're feeling down and can't do it ourselves
And when we're feeling lost and alone
We can always count on someone to take us home

Chorus:
But then two koalas came to her aid
They tended to her wounds and stayed
They carried her to safety, oh
And made sure she was okay, oh

This is just an internet story but years ago when I was in college, in my early 30's, I was studying with another woman in my class that was older than me. She was married with older kids and she lived in a really nice house right on Puget Sound in Washington State. She had invited some of us from class to her home and I went.

Anyway, this building had this really cheap little coffee machine and it was really good coffee. Must have been a spoonful of instant and hot water added by the device. Anyway I got some and as I was walking with her to a study area, I sloshed some coffee on the floor. She said "oh just leave it, that's what janitors are for." I said "no someone could slip" and went into the bathroom for paper towels and wiped in up.

I don't know if this was my abuse brain always thinking things are my fault if someone fell or not believing it's just some janitors job since I had mopped floors for a living and I don't think this woman ever had. Certainly different mentalities are play in the situation. Though I don't really believe this original story in the thread.

I would have done the same as you and cleaned it up if possible. I respect janitors and the job they do, but I don't need someone to clean up my messes if I'm able myself.

This reminded me of an old Frazier show-he was telling someone of the bad day he had the day before.
'My car was still in the repair shop, and I missed the first bus I wanted to get on, and then it started snowing and there was no place to go and I got covered with wet snow, and as I tried to wipe wet snow off of some important paperwork I was carrying, a big gust of wind blew some of the paperwork away.'

Then I finally got on a bus that was packed and I slipped on something on the floor of the bus, and
what I slipped on, I can only hope, was a week old
Burrito!
