On Monday, I had the plaster removed from my leg and I'm now in a moon-boot (Cam Walker), though I am still not allowed to have any weight bearing on the injured leg. The best thing is that I am allowed to have a proper shower, not sit on a chair with my leg encased in a plastic bag sticking out of the shower stall. The worst thing is that the boot is so darned heavy! Weighs far more than the plaster did. I will see the orthopaedic surgeon next week and hopefully he will allow me to start using the darned boot as part of my walking. Been along 7 weeks.

I can't believe it has been 7 weeks since you broke it, pleased that it is healing and that you can now have a shower, i have heard they are heavy but just think it won't be long and it will be off too and you will be walking again unaided, happy healing:flowers:

Good news Grannyjo, at least the plaster is off.....
Hopefully next week you may be rid of that heavy boot and back to walking freely. :fingerscrossed:

Know it's still a burden . . . but progress nonetheless...
Last night was the first night I spent in so long without something weighing my leg down. Funny thing was though, that I still semi woke and raised my injured leg before I turned over in bed.
My dog has retreated to sleeping under my bed - maybe I gave her a couple of unintentional whacks with the cast?
The first real shower was a bit funny - I automatically stuck my leg out. I had to consciously bring it back in. It felt so good.
You should see the hairs that have grown on my leg, under the cast! Talk about a gorilla! Not to mention the awfully dry skin.
I'm doing OK, still trying to get used to the weight of the CAM walker - it weighs a ton!

I had forgotten about all the hair that grows under the cast!
When I had my leg broken in the horseback riding accident, and had a cast on for the next six months, the hair had grown all up and down my leg, too. Since I have never had much hair on my legs ever before; I was totally shocked when they took that cast off and I got to see my leg.
The incident that I remember the most was when I had a terrible itch way down around my ankle, and the cast was covering my leg almost all the way up my thigh. There was no way to get close to it, so, in desperation, I finally got my fishing pole, and stuck that down inside the cast.
I WAS able to scratch the itch with the pole, but in the process, I also got the little round line-holder at the tip of the pole stuck in the gauze that my foot was wrapped in.
What a time that was ! ! I was sure that I would end up having to hobble down to the doctor, with the fishing pole sticking out of my cast, and have him laughing at me while he removed the cast and released the fishing pole. I did eventually get it loose, but not with out a lot of effort and frustration.
I am so glad to hear that things are going well for you, and hopefully, you will still be able to enjoy spring and summer without too many problems from this.
