And another cranky observation!

Does anyone remember "The Emperor's New Clothes?" Many Critics (Roger Ebert excepted) remind me of the shysters in that story. Since when is a splash of paint on canvas art? Or covering buildings and bridges in cloth? Or praising food on little dishes covered in flowers? Or movies hardly anyone watches? There I am finally rid of my all-time biggest pet peeve!

This made me smilešŸ˜€
I see this all the time ... very seldom if i try an item that has been built up does it even come close to the hype.
Yet people pretend to be part of the in group "oh yeah it was great" ... what happened to honesty.

Always seems that they refused to acknowledge .....that was NOT good item/ food / NOT art or bad movie i wish i could get those wasted 2 hours back.

That's how you spot the phonies.

Is it art?
Click and decide for yourself.
As strange as it may sound, this is art, even though I personally wouldn't buy it, but It is whimsical and even funny at times. I am talking about huge canvasses containing two rectangles, let's say one in red , the other green. Museums, collectors, and even countries bidding for them. I am talking about splashes of various colours that could have easily been made by monkeys. Sadly: etcc. etc. etc! One of the latest I have already mentioned, getting international praise and attention for draping buildings and bridges, even the Eiffel Tower with huge swaths of fabric. It's insanity. Not that the "artist" does it, but that the critics and elite adore it!

It has to be remembered the world wouldn't work if everyone was the same, or thought the same way.
Churchill, who I admire beyond any man I've ever seen or hear speak used to paint, and was known to criticise Picasso's art, but few would doubt who was the greater artist at least these days, (not even you).
I admit too I can't "get" some modern art, but it doesn't concern me too much, especially as almost all that passes for popular music these days is dreadful, mindnumbing pap, in my view!

Would you believe I agree totally with you. My beef is with the critics! Picasso even Dali were great artists.

Many of the movie and TV critics seem to be more focused on showing off how clever and "woke" they are, than on evaluating the movie. It's more about them. Often, their words are so obscure that I have to look some of them up. I don't want a dumb newspaper with childishly simple movie reviews, but you shouldn't need a Ph.D. in English or arcane movie history to understand what they are talking about.
