And so...the "recession" begins

we may be so far from a bottom .

plus no one knows if this recovery will take a year , a decade or decades .

most money is actually made buying high and selling higher as the trend is your friend and everyone along the way makes money , except the one guy at the end of the trend .

when markets are headed down the next stop is usually lower .

eventually many investors throw in the towel or hit stop losses losing money on the way down .

so once again myths that sound good like buy low sell high rarely end up playing out that way .

but buy high sell higher almost always pans out as the trend is your friend

He’s always stretching for arguments.
not arguments but disputing myth , old wives tales and just things that sound good but fail to pan out for investors

want proof? look at the small investor returns vs what the investment actually got on morningstar and ibbotson

investors do much worse trying to time things than doing nothing and the more volatility the worse the small investors do

That's very optimistic. When UK joined the Common Market Australia was locked out of commerce with European countries for years. Suddenly our products were apparently substandard.
Yes, indeed, very optimistic. I think there is a lot surrounding the whole of the current situation that is optimistic, including the idea of a Commonwealth bloc. The situation with the UK joining the Common Market did indeed have its challenges, and I’m aware that Australia was hit hard by being locked out of European commerce for years. But I was only aware of its impact on Australia about five years ago when I read something about it after it was mentioned on TV. I remember thinking at the time of reading, Australia had been abandoned by the UK, or at least that's how it felt to me.

I also remember thinking that we didn't actually get much out of joining the EEC

I remember the encouraging words spoken every episode on an old favourite english tv sitcom - are you being served sir - by the doderry CEO " you are all doing very very well keep up the good work"

Ah that'll be an international drug??
I'm not sure what determines that. I assume it's probably the same Bayer that ends up in the US but being sold in other countries at a lower price. This is pure speculation. Does anyone not in the drug business understand this and who can explain such wild price fluctuations?

As an American I would love for other countries to take over their own defense. And pay their own defense costs.
If that’s the case, every country has its own military power and will not obey U.S. leadership in the world. Nuclear bomb technology is not high end anymore.
