And these are the parents??

Dozens of parents and schoolchildren were involved in a mass brawl after a father confronted a mother about his son being bullied.

The fight, which was captured on a security camera outside a fire station in Alexander, Arkansas, took place on February 19.

The father, who claims his son was the victim of repeated bullying at Bryant High School, said he had arranged to meet with the accused bully's mother to discuss the matter.

That sounds like the kind of spats that I had to deal with as a teacher of teenaged girls. It usually happened on a bus stop between girls from our school and girls from a different school who would all gather at the same bus stop. Some incident would provoke bad feeling - often a weekend party where some boy was involved. Bad words would be exchanged and threats made. The next day reinforcements would turn up at the bus stop and a fight that was more flurry and noise than real violence would break out. Fortunately, we often got wind of it in advance and a phone call to the other school usually meant that the Principals would take pre-emptive action to calm things down.

That parents would indulge in the same behaviour is much more concerning. Even more so that they are doing it in front of the children. A great way to deal with bullying, not.

Is this not a relatively new phenomenon of parents getting so out of hand? I know the classic has become the sports parents who live vicariously through their children and become rabid at games.

I think with all the technology around today we see it more, and it makes the news more and the internet. I think it is increasing but I have also dealt with it during my teaching career and when I was in school. Is it just me or does anyone else have a problem with the fact that one parent wanted to meet with the other in a parking lot just to discuss the situation. As a parent if I wanted to discuss a problem like this I would meet in a public place, like inside at McDonald's or try to talk to them on the phone. I would want a place where we could sit down in public and discuss the situation rationally and calmly. I think what happened is exactly what both sides planned. They should be ashamed, and charged.

It's godawful parenting. Kids are so imitative that this kind of behaviour is the worst for raising humans.

Isn't this just wonderful. Let's all lower ourselves to base behavior of animals...

Take away the cell phones, laptops for 2 weeks and you'll see a lot of changes from teenages.

Problem is parents today dont want to upset their kids but give every damn thing they want.

And what do you do to these types of parents?
