Funny, that may be true if the vast majority of citizens never left their homes.
But, people travel all across the country. So, your answer to that is?...
Fact is, more guns save lives than take lives, but I can bet that if faced with an intruder in your home you would wish you had a gun.

I admit that if I lived in certain areas of the U.S. my first trip would be to a gun shop! I am writing this without wanting to be confrontational, friend! Your interpretation of the 2nd amendment got you into this mess and there's no way out of it now!

Gun owning rights were written into our Constitution in 1792 to arm slave owners against slave insurrections provoked by "terrorists" from Haiti coming here and provoking our slaves to kill their owners. Haitian black slaves had just overthrown their white French masters. Plus, those guns were single shot muzzle loaders at that time. Rapid fire AR-15's were not even dreamt of in those days.

The only other nation to arm all its citizens was Nazi Germany where every member of the Nazi Party was required to own and learn how to use their guns. They were very worried then about the possibility that "the Jews" would kill too many Jew hating Germans. In the end they simply murdered 6 million Jews. That is where paranoia led Germans to all buy guns and prepare to "defend" themselves against "the Jews."

OK, now go 180 degrees and what if only the government were the only people who owned guns? We would be living in a police state and that would be 10 times worse than we have now. These country leaders that have committed genocide have proved nothing, except that they can control their citizens and their citizens’ money. You would never again be able to leave the country or be able to have a dime to call your own. The Oligarchs and the people running the country would be in charge and control of everything. If anyone stepped out of line, they would kill you within a heartbeat. That day is coming or at least, it may be coming if we don’t take back our country.

Maybe the US should adopt legalized euthanasia on request. No guns need be used. Nembutal is the drug used in nations like Switzerland where self administered drugs can be given to any patient requesting it. It is far better than guns and rarely leave anyone crippled without being dead.

By the way, ten US states also allow this to their people who have established a residence of at least 90 days. Canada also allows this.

Many more US states have a Living Will Statute whereby treatment can be refused by the patient if the patient does not want to be rescued from a terminal illness. Here in CT, where I live, I have a Living Will and Advanced Directive whereby I can refuse to be treated for a terminal illness and take death instead. I have a Living Will which has been accepted by my doctor.

Finally, the US HAS a "militia" called the National Guard. Maybe EVERY GUN OWNER should be forced to join his State National Guard. Then he would be subject to call up for wars and internal emergencies. He would then have the OBLIGATION to DIE for his country as the price of being allowed to carry a gun. Switzerland has that law and every gun owner there could be called up if they are ever invaded. Since adopting that law many years ago, no European nation has ever invaded them. Sweden has the same kind of law and no one has invaded them for a very long time either.

No, the National Guard is not a militia. And they wouldn't protect against government tyranny. Only individuals coming together to save the US is what the 2nd amendment is meant for. The National Guard is just another tool the government will use during times when the US becomes Venezuela.
