I firmly believe the normal everyday Joe should think about getting a gun and taking a safety course. With the loss of so many cops year in and year out, in the next 10 years, according to the FOP, it may be every man for himself. We are losing about 5% more cops per year than are being employed, so in about 10 years you can call 9-1-1 all you want and no one may ever answer because the 9-11 operators will have no one to pass off the emergency call to.

It's already come to the point that if you call for help in Chicago, you should expect to wait at least 45 minutes to an hour before a cop arrives at your door. In NYC, it takes over an hour to get a cop to your door. Other cities like Dallas, Portland, Seattle, LA, SF and KC, it's anyone's guess when a cop will show up after they receive an emergency call.

I spoke with an Officer in Nashville Sunday evening and he told me that when emergency calls come in, they go on the bottom of the pile. It may take hours before they can get an Officer to a crime scene. IOW, we are all going to be left to protect ourselves and hope for the best outcome. The bad guys outnumber the cops and the cops don't want to go to a crime scene alone or with only one backup.

As it stands right now, the bad guys are in charge and no one cares if you or I are killed. We just become a headline and a statistic. In Chicago, only about 30% of all crimes are solved. Everything else goes into the cold case files. What a country we live in, but this is what so many people wanted and now their day is here. Defund the police and don't support the police and here we are, 2023, the year of of lawlessness.

I never knew that squirrel skins were used in so many different ways! I just looked it up and they sell for between $15.00 and $50.00! I am too city to ever kill one of the critters. I've had too much fun with my grandchildren, feeding them!

Where I live squirrels don't have to worry about hunters. Vehicles are their enemy. Today alone, I bet I saw almost 10 fresh roadkills as I drove to and return from the park. In the park, squirrels are accustom to humans. They allow you to get very close before skittering to a tree trunk.

What the people of Chicago need more than guns is active law enforcement and people in charge who support and encourage it. Since that will apparently never happen, you might consider leaving Chicago to rot and move to an environment that supports the police and not the criminals. Believe it or not, such places do exist.

Since Farmington, there have been quite a few mass shootings (as against massacres) that haven't necessarily hit the world headlines. The definition used here is that four or more people, excluding the perp, are shot at the same place at roughly the same time.



It is surely an epidemic of great concern.

If suicides are included the picture is much worse

As of May 1, at least 13,959 people have died from gun violence in the U.S. this year, according to the Gun Violence Archive – which is an average of roughly 115 deaths each day.

Of those who died, 491 were teens and 85 were children.

Deaths by suicide have made up the vast majority of gun violence deaths this year. There's been an average of about 66 deaths by suicide per day in 2023.

I used to do a lot of hunting and trapping when I was a young man. It the sort of thing you do when you live out in the country, in the "good ole' days. There used to be a lot of bush, swamp and fields where the wild life ran around.

Unfortunately things have change. Anyway, as I got older I changed, of course. These days I wouldn't even shoot a crow. About the only critters that I kill these days are mosquitoes and flies. I guess I have become a bit of an old "softie."

Which would relieve the vast majority of citizens from having to look over their shoulders in an attack of paranoia! Violent criminals are usually found in a small section of large cities! All right, not always, but often enough so that the average Joe, away from that core, doesn't have to worry about being attacked. That seems to be the "trend" in our area. The vast majority of killings in our area cities seem to involve members of a certain "ethnicity", and they have a history of violence, and usually are involved with their drug and street gangs, in the poorer neighborhoods. If they want to attack and "eliminate" each other, that is fine with me.....the tragedy occurs when some innocent person gets caught in the "crossfire".

Not sure where you get your info from, but here it is right from the .gov site: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
To further define militia: "a military force that engages in rebel or terrorist activities in opposition to a regular army".
So it is appropriate as it relates to protecting the country. And, AR-15's are the perfect weapon in doing just that.

Funny, that may be true if the vast majority of citizens never left their homes.
But, people travel all across the country. So, your answer to that is?...
Fact is, more guns save lives than take lives, but I can bet that if faced with an intruder in your home you would wish you had a gun.
