I talked with a carpenter friend and he is sad that many young people can not read a tape measure!!
Try a youngin' with a non-digital micrometer , or vernier caliper ......... same thing.
But then, what's the point of progress, if we do not use it ? I mean @ one time the "cubit" & hand was the standard of measurement. [We] never learned that either.
Young people who aren't specifically schooled in how to read a tape measure (the learning curve for which is about 15 seconds) are probably sad that the older gent can't work any special features on his cellphone outside of the flashlight.
And the young people's kids will be way beyond them in 15 years. As RGP said, that's the way of progress.
