Another operation due

Oh darn it - I knew being skinny wasn't the total answer. I now have to have another operation to remove the screws, pins and plates that were inserted to rectify the broken leg/ankle I had. The screws and pins are starting to protrude, almost to the point of breaking through my skin because I am so thin. Maybe the answer is to eat more? lol Trouble is that would go first to my butt and thighs and do nothing for my legs.

Oh geez:( Granny:( Can't your doctor tell you what and how much to eat to maintain a healthy weight for you? I know for me, just cutting calories is/was not the answer, I had to start eating more of the "right" calories. That's just for me, I'm not trying to tell anyone what they should do, it's just worked for me. I eat quite a bit, and lost 10 lbs now, also, I was able to hike almost every day, so that does help of course. But I have just been walking around the house here, and watering flowers lately, haven't gained back an ounce. I think I found out a "maintenance" amount of healthy food;) big hugs, Denise

Jo, didn't those screws need to come out sooner or later anyway? If they just remove them and don't replace them, that sounds like a good thing. Ouch, that must have been painful to have them pushing into the skin. I agree with Rkunsaw. Good luck with the operation, hugs.

Just wishing you best of luck! It will be so good to get it overwith... Keep picturing yourself back home again with it all behind you! Take care!:love_heart:

I'm a good healthy weight, right in the middle of the healthy range for BMI, just that my legs are very skinny. It is usual for the hardware to remain once it is placed there, but for me, it isn't a viable option. It should only be a day procedure this time, and because my bones have healed well, I should only have a few days of downtime this time around. Will be weight bearing withing a day or two. I know I will be far more comfortable without the hardware in my leg.

It's good that your bones have healed well Grannyjo, maybe it's a blessing in disguise to remove the hardware. Wishing you the best, hope everything goes smooth and not too painful. :love_heart:
