Another wayward wallaby

No, I'm not talking about the boofheads in the Australian Rugby team but the real thing. Wallabies are smaller cousins of kangaroos and they are less numerous. A few exist in patches of bushland in and around Sydney.

One had to be rescued from Sydney Harbour recently and before that one was spotted hopping across the Sydney Harbour Bridge one morning and had to be rescued by the police.

Footage of both incidents here: http://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-02-...sydney-harbour-by-manly-ferry-workers/9387724

So why are the wallabys trying so hard to run away from home? Jumping in the harbor is a bit excessive, isn't it?

It was probably chased by a dog.

Marsupials are not very smart and they are easily spooked.
Their only defense mechanism is flight.
Living near a big city is not the ideal habitat for these creatures.

They were and now they struggle to maintain a toehold in the few surviving pockets of remnant bushland.
