Answer a Question with a Question...

One of the happiest, calmest, best behaved dogs we've ever shared our home with, so would you want one?

Will you send me a crate so I can try to find one like ours and send her to you??

Was it okay to have Google calculate 12 inches converts to 30.48 centimeters since I do good to even be able to spell centimeters?

Would you believe I doubt my wife, myself, or Angel... the dog... would agree to an adoption that takes her from "her" home?

(We both grew up on farms. Have had dogs in our home the entire time of our 57 years of married life. When the last one passed, we swore we wouldn't "burden" ourselves with another in our retirement. Well, that lasted about 30 days before we went searching for another rescue. We've had Angel almost 4 years. She's one of the best companions we could ask for. Always happy. From the day we brought her home, she has never peed or pooped in the house. I put a doggie door in soon after she came and she zips through it letting herself in and out on her schedule. The only really serious issue is a 15 pound mutt takes up an entire third of a queen size bed!!!! )

Isn't it sad that someone turned her in to a "kill" shelter?

We contacted a rescue organization well though of in the area. Angel was about 1 year old. Her previous owner had dropped her off at a kill shelter about 150 miles south of us. Said she had kids and didn't have time for a puppy. The rescue organization knew the size we were looking for. We drove there, about 40 miles east of us, and fell in love on the spot. She had been spayed and had all her shots. She rode in my wife's lap all the way home and hasn't left our sides since.

Aren't you glad, though, we have these rescue organizations plucking animals from the kill shelters and seeing they get good homes?

(Our last two came from kill shelter organizations. The one before that was passed to us by a daughter whose friend was going to have to give him up. "Sally", a Cocker Spaniel we had in the 80's had been beat until she was deaf. Sweet dog. Turn her out in the back yard and you would have to toss a ball out in her area to get her attention. Otherwise, you could call all day and she just could not hear. Yes, it's sad when you read about the cruelty wrest upon innocent animals. We live in a society that cannot fathom the idea of equality with pets, animals, people of different upbringing... I better quit before I get into trouble!!)

Seems like we've "taken in" our share of waifs... both animal and human. We had 104 foster kids through our home over the years. I walked one young lady down the aisle in 1990 since I was the only "dad" she had know who had not sexually assaulted her. She and her husband are grandparents now!! My wife brought a number of newborns home from the hospital we had until adoptive parents could be found. Had a set of siblings, she was 4 and he was 5, who had scars from cigarette burns used as punishment. Or, "Jim" who we opened our home to in the early 70'd. Belt scars across his back from being beaten. Was 9 at that time. He's now retired from the Army. Calls "Mom" once a month after all these years. My wife is an angel, with a mothering instinct. Lots of interesting stories.

But, yes! What different subject would you care to ask questions about so we get into more joyful discussions?

Since I'm a procrastinator and would put off answering that question for a day... or two... or three, would I be being too forward suggesting you determine the next topic?

Since I've been up since 3 a.m. and it's 9:30 p.m. could we just assume I'm typing in my sleep?
