Aren't you glad, though, we have these rescue organizations plucking animals from the kill shelters and seeing they get good homes?
(Our last two came from kill shelter organizations. The one before that was passed to us by a daughter whose friend was going to have to give him up. "Sally", a Cocker Spaniel we had in the 80's had been beat until she was deaf. Sweet dog. Turn her out in the back yard and you would have to toss a ball out in her area to get her attention. Otherwise, you could call all day and she just could not hear. Yes, it's sad when you read about the cruelty wrest upon innocent animals. We live in a society that cannot fathom the idea of equality with pets, animals, people of different upbringing... I better quit before I get into trouble!!)
Seems like we've "taken in" our share of waifs... both animal and human. We had 104 foster kids through our home over the years. I walked one young lady down the aisle in 1990 since I was the only "dad" she had know who had not sexually assaulted her. She and her husband are grandparents now!! My wife brought a number of newborns home from the hospital we had until adoptive parents could be found. Had a set of siblings, she was 4 and he was 5, who had scars from cigarette burns used as punishment. Or, "Jim" who we opened our home to in the early 70'd. Belt scars across his back from being beaten. Was 9 at that time. He's now retired from the Army. Calls "Mom" once a month after all these years. My wife is an angel, with a mothering instinct. Lots of interesting stories.
But, yes! What different subject would you care to ask questions about so we get into more joyful discussions?
