Any fans of "The Waltons"?

Do any of your remember the old TV show, "The Waltons". That show and Little House on the Prairie" were my favorite. If you do remember "The Waltons" what did you think of the final episode with the showdown between Mary Ellen and Curt Willard? That episode broke my heart.

My friends bought the box set off of Amazon.

Good wholesome entertainment. It's a slower pace, but once you gear down to that level it's a fun ride. :)

I wish we had wholesome TV shows like those two again. I'm tempted to buy the sets of "The Walton" and LHOTP" but I don't think they're closed captioned or have subtitles. I'm hard of hearing and would need CC.

Sony make a set of headphones that connect to your TV set, that broadcast wirelessly to the head phones. No wires. The headphones have built in volumn controls so you can adjust the sound to suit your self. The head phones ( when not in use ) sit on a charger stand next to your tv. I have had these Sony headphones for a number of years, and they are wonderful. I can watch and listen to a music concert on tv without bothering my Wife who is sitting beside me on the couch. She listens to her favorite programs on her lap top computer, also using her own ear phones.

How could those headphones help with my hearing loss? Just playing the videos louder would not help. My hearing is such that I have difficulty differentiating the actors' individual words. Increased volume would not help. Believe me, I tried that. It's not entirely age-related hearing loss. It's because of a benign meningioma that blocks an auditory nerve limiting the sounds that can enter one of my ears. Thus, I need either subtitles or close captioning when I watch TV or a DVD movie.

Loved the Waltons, what episode are you speaking of? I can't recall the last episode, Thanks!

On further research, I learned it wasn't the very last episode but it was in Season 9. I believe it was a two-part episode #209. Most people didn't like that particular episode because of its nature and there was an entirely different actor playing Curt Willard.

Was that the episode where they try and replace the original Curt with the one that was living in fla. and Mary Ellen goes to see him to see if it is Curt?

The original Curt passed away not long ago I think.

Beautiful photos. Thanks for sharing. I don't drive so would have no way of getting to Schuyler.

Yes! The original Curt, Tom Bower, did pass away at age 86. At the time "The Waltons" was on TV though, he was asking for more money than the network was willing to pay him so they "killed" him off. That episode where Mary Ellen goes to Florida to find him, they used a completely different actor. And yes she did find out it was Curt, but he had been badly injured in the war, was physically unable to be a husband to her and said he no longer loved her and didn't want to be married anymore.

Everyone watched the Waltons. I watched all the seasons, and liked the stories, characters, and the actors. It was perfect for that era.....was "Dallas" on during that time? It was kind of soap opera like. The Waltons had the "John Boy stories" each week...wholesome. :)
