Any Nutcracker nuts out there?

If you, like me, don't consider this season complete without seeing at least one performance of The Nutcracker, I found a really great one on Amazon Prime last night. It's Nutcracker: The Motion Picture, performed by the Pacific Northwest Ballet in the 80's. Very interesting version of the story, pretty traditional but with some changes. There is no Sugar Plum Fairy, for instance, but her dance is performed by Clara. Full company of excellent dancers, and a lovely version of the story. Though Drosselmeyer and the mice are pretty scary, so I don't recommend it for young children.

I saw it on stage in Seattle back in the 90's, and it was really nice enjoying it again! If you get Prime, you can find it by going to Search and entering Nutcracker. You'll see several of them, but look for the Motion Picture one.

I have attended one live performance of the Nutcracker. It was breathtaking in person. I can't watch any more of it on tv... I think I just got tired of it, but I still like the music.

When our daughter was little, it was an annual thing to see it live, though I know I wouldn't be able to watch it live now without falling asleep. Still like
it though.

About 30 years ago I went to see it performed live by our local Philharmonic Orchestra and Ballet company. It was great. I hope to do it again some time
