Any Special Summer Plans Or Trips?

Well, we are about to go into the "summer vacation" times, or for those that are fully retired, perhaps just a normal summer. Then again, for those Seniors that have motorhomes, it can be "travel, travel, travel". I have a high school classmate that, her and her husband, are selling their house in south Florida and are "motorhoming it" now. Yes, they will be totally living in their new motorhome and traveling everywhere. The real only problem they have, the wife is the only one that can drive. Her husband can no long see well enough to drive and no longer has a DL.. Wonder how that is going to work out.

As for us, for a week this summer we will be in northern Colorado and Cheyenne, Wyoming. We will be checking out things in a couple of areas of northern Colorado to see if we want to move there from here in Florida. Visiting Cheyenne for their western celebration called Cheyenne Frontier Days. Been to CFD when we lived in Colorado and loved it. By most aspects, we will move to either northern Colorado or up into Wyoming, in or by, Cheyenne. We will have lots to do within a week.

So, have any summer plans?

Here, most of the snowbirds have left for the summer. Some of the "Sunbirds" that live here year round will take vacations and visit other places. We will spend a week in a waterfront area on the east end of Long Island where our SIL's family has a cottage that they take turns with.

We're "sunbirds"; we'll be heading out to North Carolina next week and then back in October. We used to travel around the country from May to October, but now we just squat in the mountains during that time. Gettin' old.

We don’t travel much during the “summer months” of Ohio. We wait until fall is over, we love the fall crisp weather here, then we head to the south for November, then take a Christmas cruise, this year will disembark in San Diego and stay for a bit and head back home in March. We sort of follow the temps. We really enjoy travel, but getting so expensive.

We are caretaker of my 97 year old MIL, find it hard to make plans. Her mobility is not the greatest!! We have limited outings the past 3 years.

I'm just a homebody ,Rocker ! My favorite places to go are ( yes -- you can laugh !) ---> the petting zoo .... and the Clydesdale ranch . You don't know it ..... shhhhhhhhhhh ... but I ENVY how much you got to interact with horses ! I'm the typical city girl who never got her horse ....LOL My whole living room is horse art I've made. I even bought horse tail hair for a wall hanging. You'll love this .... I have horseshoes on my kitchen table right now .... ready for crafting with .

Ok---back to the subject at hand !

Nope!

I usually take a couple of twenty dollar vacations or day trips in the area.

I traveled extensively during my working years and since I stopped working I have nothing in my life that I need to take a break from.

Taking the daughter and grandkids on a week long cruise to the Caribbean in July. In August, Hubs wants to attend his high school reunion in PA, so we will fly to Buffalo first and spend a few days in Niagara Falls before his reunion, then spend a little time on Memory Lane at our alma mater. Hubs also wants to see Key West, so that's in the works. Gonna be busy!

I will be babysitting a friend’s houseboat for about a month in the summer. All mod cons including the Net, and a freezer full of delicacies. Guy is a gourmet. I am bringing the cats with me. They love the huge screened conservatory on the upper deck.

Making a road trip from here (Sonoran Desert) back to Ohio this summer. SO still has a house there, and it does get rather warmish here, so we may stay a few weeks. It's about 2,000 miles each way, so 3 days on the road out and then again back.

I have just returned from a 2-week trip to Hawaii. This has been my umpteenth hundred time to Hawaii. I flew the Chicago-Hawaii non stop route for two years while I was at United. I really did not want to go, but I had promised my one Granddaughter that if she got all A's and B's during her four years at Penn State that I would take her over there. I was going to send her on her own with one of her girlfriends, but I had to go along to get the free airfare through my previous employer.

Of course, we had to do all of the touristy things like going to a Luau, visiting Pearl Harbor and climbing Diamond Head all on Oahu, but my best time was when we visited Kauai. I love going there and hiking through the trails and seeing the beautiful waterfalls, etc. Waikiki is now more expensive than ever. I was amazed by some of the prices that hotels and attractions are charging the public compared to what the prices were just 7 or 8 years ago. BTW, if anyone is considering Hawaii this summer, the U.S.S. Arizona Memorial is currently closed due to repairs. I don't know for how long, so please check before going or you may be disappointed that you cannot get on the ship's memorial.

Nope, theres no one to do things with anymore. Maybe a trip to Louisiana to see my sister if we can make the travel plans work out. I don't drive on the freeway anymore and she doesn't either so I will have to fly or see if my daughter can help me get there. Finances play a big part too.

ooooh I'd love to visit Hawaii one day Oldman... but it's very expensive from here...Congrats to your Grand-daughter on her Exam results, she has a very kind Grandad..

Terry, how far is Louisiana from Houston?

Guess, since wife and I take all vacations together, why any couple would take one without the spouse being there.

Different kind of marriages, I guess.

That’s like one spouse that has a job that has them traveling a lot, while the other spouse is at home.

Other than overnight hospital stays for a surgery, we’ve been with each other every night for the last 18 years.

To visit the spouses parents. Some folks would rather stay home but thanks for adding your insignificant point of view Rockr.
( tongue in cheek ) :playful:

Really, there are spouses that don't get along with their spouses parents? Wonder when that starts? I mean, when a couple get married, isn't most of the family, that can come, are there?

Not to change this thread, but now I wonder how many spouses don't get along with the other spouses parents.

Based on all of the old mother in law jokes I've heard over the years it must be quite a large population!:playful:
