It really does no good to keep beating yourself up. It's a hard habit to change and takes time to change it like most things.
Easy for you to say. I'm perfect though, so I have higher standards.

And yes, I am full of it. :ROFLMAO: Don't stand too close, you don't want to get any on you.

For literally decades, I was usually the first one in the office (or at least the floor I was on). This meant getting up about 4 or so, and arriving at work at 6. I was known for that, and for being the guy that fired up the coffee pots. My reasoning for this was to avoid traffic (ha), and get the lay of the land before others came in.

I retired 18 years ago, and to this day I/we still get up at 4 am. Sounds crazy, especially to some family members and working neighbors. But here is the thing... our day is moved ahead two hours from the "norm". We go out to eat every day, having lunch at 11, dinner at 4, and bedtime (or reading time) starts about 8.

Obviously this works for us, and yet others would (and do) laugh at it.

It sounds like a comfortable schedule. You must be getting on in years having retired 18 years ago. I am almost 72 and I have a routine I stick by religiously. :)
 
I am still up, I tried but it was a no go. Looks like I will be sleeping the day light hours away, again!
I always get up about 4. I have to take a nap. From 2pm-4pm I will sleep again. It gives me enough energy to go till 9:30...lights out.
