Anybody Use United Medicare Advisers?

I am considering using these brokers to find a Medicare supplement. Anybody use them?

Their reviews seem good, but the guy I spoke to was a bit “hard sell” so I am a bit leery.

Be aware that brokers get paid a lot more if they sell you an advantage plan. I was surprised to find this out. All supplement plans must cover a service if Medicare does. All G plans, etc must have the exact same coverage so the only difference is price.

The advantage of a broker should be they narrow the field of options for you. Prepare a list of your medical needs, doctors, preferred hospitals, medications, etc. Also consider your future travel plans and residency. A broker should take that information and give you the best choices.

That's how it should work, yet you still need to be careful. While a broker doesn't charge you a fee obviously they get paid for their service and likely steer you toward plans that are financially beneficial to them as well.

When I was shopping plans I called a couple of those agencys you see advertising on TV. What a mistake! My gosh they hound you for months, and are most certainly sales people trying to make money. I ended up using a local broker and am happy with the results. No sales pressure, he laid out several options from different companies, and I ended up with a plan that suits me very well.

We are lucky here. A member of our community left about 17 years ago because he was starting a family. Being a very close friend he is helping us with navigating Medicare and Medicare. He is now in the business. He loves his work because it is all so very confusing to his clients and his business is to help find the best solutions to the different situations and needs of his clients. He was here yesterday. We talked a couple hours and is working to setup the best plans for us. Free too. :)

Yes, I use United Medicare Advisors. They helped a lot in choosing my supplement plans and clarifying issues I was confused about. They call once a year to see if I'm still happy with my plans or if I want to change anything. Bottom line: I would use them again.

We have a local broker that we have used for quite a few years with our medicare plans. We both have a Medicare Advantage, and it has paid for all of my heart procedures and covered all the heart meds, and literally, everything we have needed medically.
I definitely recommend finding a local broker that you can build up a relationship with and have confidence in their yearly recommendations.

Everyone I know that used a broker ended up on an advantage plan and had no idea about any of the downsides. Personally I take the time to read and learn about the various options to make a good decision.

There are a gazillion plans out there. I narrowed my search to those with a local connection which were two; they being Highmark and Geisinger which are located in my state of PA. Only dealing two instead of a gazillion helps.

After waiting from 1pm to 4:30pm for a call back from WI healthcare advisors (SHIP) and getting no call, I am going to use United Heathcare Advisors. The more I study all of this with no help, the more confusing it all seems to get. Just dumb luck that I turn 65 in November, when the open enrollment begins. Meeting via phone at 3pm today.

Well it is all done! Went quit well. They got me the lowest cost Part N medigap and it is all set. They will contact me with a part D prescription plan but I should be under $100 a month for both. Also the $165 Medicare plan B charge that everyone pays.

Glad your experience went well. I found working with United very stress-free, which is why I recommend them.

If I had done this with my auto insurance company, I would be paying at least $65 a month more for the exact same coverage! And this agent informed me that the insurance companies are not required to disclose the fact that other companies may offer identical coverage for less. Also, this agent did not try to push an advantage plan.
