It's supposed to be an old German tradition... however ask Germans and they haven't heard of it. Actually it comes from German immigrants. The idea is to hide a pickle ornament in the tree.. The first person to find it gets an extra present. I have one hidden.. The first thing my Grandkids do is to start looking for the Pickle. the rule is NO TOUCHING... just looking... The first one to find it gets a present... the other two get one also.. It works out really great because I make sure the gift will keep them busy and give them something to do until Santa arrives! They love the Pickle tradition. I hope they pass it on to their kids some day!

Can you spot the pickle?? Sorry for the sideways tree..

I typed pickle ornament into the Amazon search box and got 307 to choose from. Wouldn't it be more fun to hang a real pickle on the tree and then the child who found it got to eat the pickle and the other children just get presents.

Thanks QS, no if you would just unstick the tree from the side of the wall, I might have a better shot at this, for now, I'm just getting dizzier and a crimp in my neck. LOL. But that was fun giving it a try.

Wait is that it just above the purple light in the lower right side, wait, I have to go back and see if I'm saying this correctly

I meant above the purple ball green light between them sort of to the lower right of the screen at least while pick is sideways.

Nope... It's more toward the center

Geez..... ok... See the Santa with the yellow Surfboard? See the red and white box to his right.. See the little red and white mail box.. Right in the middle of those things... it's little and green.... like a pickle.. lol!

I can see a little green and shiny thing around 1 1/4 inches to the right of Santa's sunglasses....but it doesn't look like a pickle to me with the light reflections.

I can't see it either, and I have been reading all of the clues. I would have guess the "eggplant", too, QS.
The Christmas tree is absolutely gorgeous, even of I can't see the pickle.
Perhaps Santa got tired of surfboarding, was hungry, and ATE the pickle ? ?
Or the Mailman when he came by the mailbox?
I will go back for another look, but , is there any kind of a present for finding the Eggplant ? ?

I think I might have found it ! ! Is it right behind the mailbox and on the left side of it ? ?

I think I amost see it! I've heard of the pickle tradition, but thought it was some kind of sales ploy to sell stuff. I like your plastic canvas needlepoint ornaments. I have a whole lot of them in different shapes that an 80 yr old crafter made, & like the birds with the glass tails.

My Great Aunt Clara made all the needlepoint ornaments many years ago. The glass birds with tails are hand blown blown from Germany.

It's just to the left of the ornament that looks like a bomb.
