Before you read this be warned that it is long, rambling and ultimately without any real point. Iām just chatting a little about part of my life.
TLDR:
My husband and boyfriend tried to surprise me on Animal Crossing New Horizons, which was... mostly okay.
My husband is going to have to redo hours of work in the game because his Switch Lite died. And, you know, thatās a drag.
-------
My life is a little strange sometimes.
About two years ago, my boyfriend, who was really into Animal Crossing New Horizons, sent me a Nintendo Switch Lite and the game. Also, he put me on his family plan so Iād have access to the DL content, Paradise Planning, which is large and involved enough to constitute a game in itself.
He was being lovely as he thought it might help with my anxiety, which it has.
After Iād been playing for a few months, my husband, noting how completely immersed in this game Iād become, decided he wanted to try it.
Wait, back up, sometime before that my husband found a deal on a used Nintendo Switch OLED and bought it for me to play the game on. Bigger screen, vibration effects, etc.
K, so husband decides he wants to play and finds a used Switch Lite at a good price and buys it and the game.
He keeps this secret from me.
After some covert talks between my husband and my boyfriend (who lives in England), I find myself, in the game, waiting in my boyfriendās house, on his island, for some kind of surprise.
I cannot, for the freaking life of me figure out what in Hades he could be surprising me with on Animal Crossing.
Turns out, it was my husband, who with help from my boyfriend, was planning on walking his avatar into the room where I was waiting, to surprise me.
It didnāt actually work as they couldnāt get things lined up somehow -- I donāt know, but we ended up, the three of us, meeting on my husbandās new island, where boyfriend and I gifted husband with some things to help him along the way in the game. (Which I wouldnāt do now because earning things is part of the fun.)
It was a little bit strange for me, that meeting.
So, husband played for a little while and then gave it up. It just didnāt grab him the way it had boyfriend and I.
That was maybe 18 months ago.
Fast forward to about a month ago and husband decides he wants to play again.
I get him all set up with a new start and heās been having fun with the game since.
We were both surprised at how much heās enjoying the house decorating and vacation home planning on the DL content, Paradise Planning.
Heās spent hours decorating houses, inside and out, for the various villagers in the game.
Then the very bad thing happened. My husbandās Switch Lite stopped charging. It just wonāt. Weāve tried everything, e.g., several different chargers, hard resets, cleaning the charging port, etc. Nothing has worked.
In desperation, my husband called a fix-it place who wanted $180.00 to fix it. He could buy another one for that.
The issue is this: I can and did move his island to the Switch Lite my boyfriend bought for me as Iām not using it right now and this is a good temporary solution.
However, because husbandās Switch is not charging and won't recognize when the charger is plugged in, the system wonāt let me transfer his user data, which is connected to the DL content, Paradise Planning.
As mentioned, husband has put hours of work into that part of the game.
The thing is that husband has access to the DL content, Paradise Planning because boyfriend has him, under that user, as part of his, boyfriendās, family plan with Nintendo.
We havenāt bought the DL content because boyfriend has us covered there.
We were all on the phone last night, (sort of, over Whatsapp audio) searching the net, trying to fix this problem.
Today, however, weāve had to face that itās probably not fixable and husband will have to start over with the Paradise Planning part of the game.
Just a bummer.
Thereās no actual point to this story other than the light strangeness of my life at times. Sort of odd, polyamorous Animal Crossing connection there.
The meeting on the island, 18 months ago, is the only time husband, boyfriend and I have been in the same, āroom.ā Life is weird.
In other Animal Crossing New Horizons news, I leveled my current island about a month ago and have been slowly working on the rebuild.
My Fairy-themed front yard.
Fairy-themed Camp Ground
Zen Garden Museum Entrance
Yoga Studio
And Bee Garden.
The Bee garden is actually a lot fuller now, but that's the general idea.
There's also the villager's neighborhood and a little shopping area, but I ran out of picture space. I'm sure you're all devastated not to see them.
The rest of the island, and there is a lot of it, is currently being used for horticulture, namely trees and flowers. I am growing hybrid flowers right now, e.g. blue, black and gold roses, purple tulips and hyacinths, etc.
If you read this, thank you for indulging my ramble and letting me share my love of Animal Crossing.
