Anyone else who grew up with Madonna? Anyone else think she is just ridiculous these days?

Oh, dear. I was never a fan of Madonna, but I have nothing against her. She'd look a lot better if she'd never had cosmetic procedures. As far as performing goes, doing the same shtick as you did in your twenties doesn't work well when you're in your sixties. Being an entertainer and growing old in the public eye is difficult for many of them, and they'll go to extreme lengths to try to maintain a youthful "image". There's a lot to be said for growing old gracefully. This isn't it.

This is it. Rita Moreno at 89 years old. A timeless classic. (y)

Bella✌️
I agree that Rita Moreno is a timeless classic, but at 90 years old she has surely had some cosmetic procedures. The difference is that she is an elegant lady who looks appropriate for her age and is not trying to act like she is in her 20's. Rita Moreno is an icon!

Madonna grew up in Bay City, MI, which is my hometown. She lived with her grandmother a few houses away from me. She is 12 years younger than me but I remember her as a little girl. Later, when she became "famous", she never had anything nice to say about Bay City and basically hated the place.

I think she had a troubled childhood and she's very insecure so this is how she gets the attention she didn't get when growing up. She's a troubled soul.

I played guitar in Sheryl Crow's college band. Then she made it big. 40 million....not 480 million. I watched her get the fame and fortune, and make headlines over various pop news stuff. I felt some professional jealousy. :) But as she has gotten older she is removing herself away from the spotlight, as many others have done. Madonna is a fiery LEO! They love attention, and can dazzle and entertain like no one else. :) She has just posted pics of her 4th of July celebration.

She is doing what she wants, and remaining as hot as she can. She is also making a BIG movie and directing it about who else, herself. :)

I enjoyed some of Madonna's music in earlier years. Judging the way Madonna goes about the aging process in a public setting seems a little sleezy. People don't consider that Madonna probably reads comments, and some remarks could be hurtful. That seems to go along with the territory, so more to think about in that respect too. What first brought this to my attention was reading an article about a celebrity's grown child who was very hurt by people making public comments, online, about her looks and she finally said something publicly about it.

That bothers me, people verbally attacking children of various kinds of people in public eye. The adults knew what they were getting into, they chose the profession, the kids didn't. People with any moral compass will leave the kids alone.

Well, the young woman is an adult, and she is an entertainer in her own right too. Her mother first made an effort to make public how awful, and then her daughter, the young woman, followed up by confronting.

A good singer has a wonderful, powerful voice. The rest, I mean those with terrible voices, have to use "tricks" to fool you into watching them. Nana Mouskouri was the former. I suppose, Madonna is the later; I don't really know as I don't have her music and have never attended one of her concerts or whatever it is where the audience stand up and wave their hands (opps, I mean smartphones around). Perhaps they scream and demand certain songs too. For for me, I'll stay home.

Who are you talking about, Patricia?

Good voice, but she has always been a nitwit.
That nitwit is a marketing genius. Every step of her career was planned and her fame just kept on going and got better with each cycle. I admit, she is past the time when all of changes she made were placing her at the top, but, she was a genius. Maybe a bit of jealousy, eh? For some, it's hard not to be "The One".

I confess I found Madonna sexy a few decades ago. I was a younger and more foolish man at the time. Now I put her in the same category as Cher... Go a bit further, and I think of Raquel Welch. Is she still alive? I hope she's not trying to be sexy, still.

I'll let you be the judge.

For someone with no talent she's worth $850 million dollars today.
So, if she is worth $850 million dollars today or whatever, she still is a terrible singer. Maybe propaganda and massive advertising and promoting gave her the value.

So, shame on a society that values a terrible singer. No wonder we are in such deep financial mud!

I liked a couple of her songs, and bought one of her cassettes decades ago. However, she was like numerous musicians in that she seemed to care more about her shock-value image than her music, and to me that's a turn-off.
But in my opinion there's really no difference between her early fame years and now- doesn't matter whether someone is 20-something or 60-something, if a person wants to be taken seriously she should focus on her music instead of costumes. And the same can be said about various other "aging" musicians.

You don't want to get me started what it says about a culture that values entertainment (including professional sports) over most everything/everyone else. While the arts are important the ease of gaining fame/infamy today, is remarkable. There is an upside and downside to most everything. YouTube has a lot of both, we have to be discriminating in how we use it and dole out our likes.

I think she is a has been and needs a reality check. She’s embarrassing herself and her family. I have no respect for her at this point.
