Anyone have any interest in seeing the Michael Jackson movie?

I remember the group, The Jackson Five, in their early years. I think they were pretty good, and they also had this precocious little kid who was talented beyond his years as an added attraction, and who eventually eclipsed his brothers. But I was never impressed enough to follow him afterwards. But I will give him credit for one outstanding and amazing achievement, the Moon Walk, an incredible dance step.
I will point out that...In the early 1960's, a number of performers were doing a variation dance move called "the Camel Walk " Best known was Ronnie Hawkins, a rockabilly singer from Arkansas, who came to Toronto around 1958, and stayed here. Here is a video clip of Ronnie doing The Camel Walk dance move. link.

No, Thank you.

I would prefer to see an unbiased account of his life that helped us to understand the people and events that shaped his life. How he helped and harmed the people that were closest to him as he grappled with his own demons.

You'd have to see the 2019 documentary "Leaving Neverland" to get the dark side. It is too bad if the movie doesn't cover all of his life though. I just now watched a trailer and it was bit loud for me. 🤣

Not particularly interested but might. Never have known much about Michael Jackson beyond hearing his music in public places and aware he was greatly popular with mainstream media and culture. Have read very little about his controversies. FM AOR radio stations of my era didn't often play his music. After Thriller, I did wonder about where and how he learned his robotic, popping, dancing style that is a variation of classic bilateral pendulum dance styles that goes back to the 1920s era with jazz jive, swing and tap.

My own dancing, is a unique, freestyle, dynamic, 3-dimensional, bilateral, pendulum, shuffle running man style, I've evolved since dancing often at Fillmore West in San Francisco at Market and Van Ness during the 1970 through 1971 period, when I lived cheaply several blocks down the street. I dance, not for show or some club two person gender games, but rather because it is a most intense, exhilarating visceral experience. Same reason many are in underground Rave and now House dancing club scenes. In the above video, they relate he practiced dancing his style for hours, often 8 hours a day during periods of his life. Dancing a lot repeatedly just like with sports like skiing, or shooting basketballs like Steph Curry, builds skill by neural plasticity processes.

Ordinary people watching me dance, seem to have considerable trouble copying my movements because my lower body movements vary considerable from club dancing styles that evolved from stay in one spot, Disco and nightclub styles of the late 1970s, that then dominated. So most others without formal say jazz dancing training, lower body's become sort of lost. I can effortlessly dance about in any directions then stop instantly, and resume seconds later while hardly missing a beat. So have become a public model for others.

At some video game amusement arcades, they have dance game machines like Dance Dance Revolution, where people have to move their feet to positions the video displays shows. Anyone doing so repeatedly, will naturally learn how to move their feet around to synchronize to music beats, that is about upper to lower body separation that is also a huge part of advanced snow skiing technique. However, the machine styles are far more like Jackson's robotic movements, haha.

Thank you for sharing this interesting video and information. Do you have any videos of you dancing you'd like to share with us, David777?

No. Wish to keep much of the rest of my life and other web forums separate from influencing what I might post on specific forums. There are many shuffle dancing training videos on YouTube one can look at. Shuffle style dancing has supposedly been much more prominent in Europe. And in Los Angeles there seems to be some serious groups within House music culture moving that way with a lot of dance studios suddenly advertising. Shuffle dancing is now increasing in awareness again simply because the intense motion is more viscerally enjoyable exhilarating fun than other solo forms of freestyle dancing.

I understand, David777. I don't like to post too much personal info online. either.

My sister saw the movie last week and loved it. She said it did go into his life as a youngster and how cruel his father was to him beating him and controlling his life. I hope to see the movie when it comes out to my area.

Michael Jackson's dance style is basically a style of pendulum shuffle dancing.

I'd highly recommend seniors, even if they have never danced or had an interest to, to learn how to do the below even at half speed. (Yeah forget Michael Jackson for awhile!) I'll guaranty that if one does so for say just 10 exercising minutes each day for a couple weeks, that after that period, one will be a long ways beyond what the experience was on day one, that may also have revelations about new ways of feeling one's inner being. And it could be the start to staving off usual elderly body movement issues. Well at least for those still generally mobile.

I like the 2 below videos in part, because they just last a few seconds then loop. I would have no problem doing what she is doing per below YouTube link and it can convince anyone that moving like that is an obviously a very intense experience. And that for mr dave, has admittedly as an adult, been addictive for decades. Her lazy slow hand curling during the middle part is exactly as I might do by simply having long ago learned to feel my inner body positions more deeply.

The dynamic mass one learns to control becomes a tool advanced dancers that can use their mass momentum in all manner of natural feeling 3-dimensional ways. If as I suspect, the cerebellum at least in part sometimes can act as a mirror for higher cerebrum brain functions, then it can at some point run in a sort of automatic mode disconnected from purposeful aware attention. Most commonly experienced while driving automatically in commute traffic daily while worrying about something else to be done.

Now watch this equally short video with more advanced dynamic movers. My moving both her legs in relative balance below her more static upper body mass she has learned to be able to bounce around all over easily. Notice how quickly she is able to transition at the end to as lazy rotation. Well at least when adequately inspired to feel like doing whatever that is much of the process. If one has been dancing like that for say a half hour, at that point, one is often so deeply into a kind of In the Zone resonant flow that one doesn't need to be paying direction attention.

Both those gals are very healthy and good looking. I think I'm locally going to look for a group of gals of any age interested in informal fun street shuffle running man dancing as a sort of a occasional daytime outdoor exercise date. And because I already have a YouTube Account Channel, may eventually post a video dancing short that could take some thought over how to video to make it more interesting. To this point just have skiing on that channel.

Ok, watch the below like short running man shuffle style and imagine how much fun it must feel?

And this last longer 3:48 minute video shows a sequence of several young women with intense running man shuffle dancing shorts that shows why it is rapidly becoming popular with Gen Z.

Google AI: is shuffle dancing gaining in popularity?
  • Yes, shuffle dancing is experiencing a significant surge in popularity, driven largely by viral videos on TikTok and Instagram, as well as its adoption as a high-energy fitness trend. The dance style, characterized by fast heel-and-toe movements, has evolved from 1980s underground rave scenes into a global phenomenon popular at music festivals and for online content creation.Key factors driving its popularity:
  • Social Media Resurgence: Shuffle dance challenges and tutorials are widespread on TikTok and Instagram, with many users in the r/shuffle community noting that the dance has evolved into new, visual-friendly "shapes".Fitness and Health: Known as a great cardiovascular workout, it is popular as a "new fitness craze," offering benefits like improved endurance and coordination, according to James & Alex Dance Studios.
  • Global Community Growth: The dance has a strong, growing community in Los Angeles, southeast Asia, and has been adopted for fitness in schools in China.Generational Reach: While popular among Gen Z/Post-Millennials, the shuffle is also being adopted by older generations for vitality and fitness.
  • While some forum users on Reddit might argue that specific, older styles of shuffling (like the "phat pants" era) have died out, there is a consensus that the dance form as a whole has simply evolved and remains very active

Tell me what you thought of it, PeppermintPatty.
After the first movie I was convinced that Michael sexually abused the boys. After watching the second movie I had many doubts. There was no evidence to back up the claims. The boys tried to claim that they knew what Michael’s private parts looked like but they didn’t. They got it all wrong.
Michael Jackson was a very peculiar man. He liked pretty boys and liked to sleep in bed with them. That in itself speaks volumes but I dont think he had it in him to abuse them. I think the parents got greedy and figured they could pull him down and take advantage of him which they did. Michael may have strange behaviours but he was all about treating everybody he knew with kindness and compassion, especially little kids. His songs were mainly about love and compassion He lived to love. I don’t know what happened for absolutely sure but I don’t think he was guilty of sexual abuse. He WAS guilty of being stupid in sleeping with pretty boys. He loved the innocence of these young boys.

After watching these two movies about leaving Neverland I watched another movie about Michael Jackson and his music. It was very entertaining. He deserved the stardom he got. There clearly was something wrong with him but he was an open book. A bit too open.
That’s what I thought of the movies I watched about him.

Thanks so much PeppermintPatty for giving us your opinion. It's pretty much the same as mine and yes, he was very strange but also very kind. I think he wanted to live the childhood he was never allowed to have and shared it with children. I also have trouble believing he sexually abused anyone. In the end the whole thing is sad.
