Apparently it's being run in the States as they're just discussing the reviews it got from the US Bible Belt on a local forum. (with some amusement.)
Seems her rather bohemian attitude to sexual encounters isn't appreciated. Considering it's set in the 20's I guess it is a stretch, but if it was a modern show no one would blink.

It's not the greatest production ever but I've become addicted to it, any other fans out there?
 

I haven't seen anything about this series on US TV Di ... so I'm not familiar .. probably it can be seen on Netflix, and that might be where the reviews are coming from in the states. Sounds interesting.
Strange how different periods in time require different attitudes...:D
 
We watch it too. I don't know about Melbourne but Sydney definitely had a thriving Bohemian set devoted to the intellect, the arts and sexual freedom. The only stretch is that any of them would bother assisting the police to solve crimes.

I just love the look of the show. The sets, the clothes and the actors. It makes a change to have real looking faces and a heroine who is not the standard barbie doll.
 

Yeah maybe it was just that the OZ my family lived in through the 20s wasn't exactly 'high society'.

I like the 'style' and quirkiness of it too, didn't take to it at first but it's totally grabbed me now, and you're right about the lack of Barbies being a welcome change, not that they're all too hard to look at though. :cool:
 
An Alaskan was protesting that they had 4 seasons same as everyone else too, June July August and Winter. Scared me just thinking about it.

Miss Fisher isn't Agatha Christie-ish as the BBC do them, more of a quirky romp. It's kind of a fun show without being a comedy.
I was surprised it was seen over there at all, there's so much competition for TV shows didn't think any of ours would get a look in.
It's about the only one that deserves a chance anyway really, we've turned out some crappy ones lately.
 
I've also enjoyed the series "Redfern Now" for its varied plots and characterisations but I doubt that it would export all that well. I find the inner city locations a welcome change from the endless outback settings.
 
I have eclectic tastes but they don't extend to reality shows or anything to do with house, kitchen or garden.
And I'm very much over English bonnet period drama.
 
This is the on;y soap type series we watch.
It is brilliant with the added bonus no swearing no violence. Plus a lovely lady in the role of a amateur detective.
I am of the same mind as Warrigal. No Eastenders No house shows or any thing else to do with reality shows.
