You really made me think about that one! 😂

@Trila
Yes much as I like turnip I very seldom bought it.....too hard to peel and cut.
But I did love recipe I had for turnip and applesauce bake.....yum

Everybody loved it when I served at dinner.
I can post recipe if you like. It is from an1870's recipe book.

I love turnips, but as Mizmo said, they are a chore to cut and peel. My late daughter-in-law and I worked together one Thanksgiving getting one ready and the kitchen was a mess by the time we got finished. Never again.

We always had the yellow flesh swedes or neeps in Scotland but somehow they were called turnips and that is what I bought here in Canada.

Quote
"In Scotland, "turnip" generally refers to the yellow-fleshed swede or rutabaga, not the smaller, white-fleshed turnip. The term is often replaced with "neep" (from Old English næp), which can also refer to swede. So, when a Scots person mentions "neeps and tatties" (potatoes), they are referring to mashed swede and potatoes. "

Seems the small pale flesh turnip as known here is a mixture of swede and cabbage...YUK K
It's no wonder I did not like them
Sure wish I could make that turnip( swede) and applesauce bake again.. Now I am droolin for itdrool.jpg

Ballantine's Whisky used to have very special guards at their
warehouses, they used geese, and lots of microphones, round
the buildings, if anything happened anywhere the geese ran
to that area making a lot of noise, the security, knew where to
go, by looking at the number of the mike, that was picking up
the row.

The "Scotch Watch", was active, from 1959 until 2012 when they
were retired, they never lost a drop of whisky during that time.
