Are people still wearing masks where you live?

I wear one when I go to the doctor, or shopping in a crowded place. I also wear one because the tree pollen is so bad right now. I am allergic to it, and it wreaks havoc with my sinuses. So, if I am out the door the mask is on...for now.

Some weeks ago before the mask mandates ended in the subway in spring 2023, most of the young Turkish men and women didn't wear masks. Only the Germans wore them.

During the height of things you couldn't enter a medical facility without a mask. But very soon the evidence showed this to be little more than a placebo. I distinctly remember my cardiologist closing the door, removing his mask and asking me to remove mine:

"It's more important to communicate with the patient than let an administrative mandate get in the way."

no, not a placebo.

Mask wearing to limit spread of respiratory borne infections is nothing new - just was mandated for everyone in Covid hey day.

I agree it did make communication more difficult for some people and from that point of view am glad it has now been discontinued in nursing homes here.

I don't wear them anymore, except in the nursing home where I work, when I have to. I do see people in stores wearing them from time to time.
Meanwhile in the world of Stupid America we have this:
Proposed North Carolina law would make it illegal to wear masks in public
https://www.wral.com/story/nc-senat...-masks-in-public-for-health-reasons/21433199/

Now that would be really stupid - and not just from Covid point of view. People who have any sort of respiratory infection who are trying to stop it spreading to others or immunosuppressed people protecting themselves or just people who have allergy triggers from airborne particles.

Interesting that the ' you can't make me wear a mask because my freedom rights!!!' don't think others have the same freedom to wear one.
