Are There Any Celebrities Whose Deaths Make You Very Sad?

It was sad to see Frank Sinatra, John Wayne and Bob Hope go. It seemed like they were around forever and would last forever.

accidental deaths or murder ... always seem sad a talent cut short ......

as i read through many names here ..... suicide / overdose / and troubled lives that hastened an end i am not as sad ....
i know addiction is like Russian roulette suicide but they made some choices. I think it is sad that for some the fame they wanted or craved seemed to lead to substance abuse or mental illness.

Princess Diana’s death really had me choked up for a long time. She really struggled in an awkward prearranged marriage but pushed herself to make the most of it by helping others. She was the ā€˜People’s Princess’ and did us proud.

Robin Williams. We knew him as the funny man. The fact that he had depression and committed suicide , truly shocked me. Then when I discovered what he actually had, it saddened me even more.

Whitney Houston. I believe she had the greatest voice of her era and I’m not sure I’ve ever heard the US national anthem sung so well. I found it sad that she got hooked up with the wrong people and drowned in a bathtub while doing cocaine.

Gord Downie the lead singer from Tragically Hip who died of brain cancer. This guy was a one of a kind singer who insisted that each band member get the same amount of money. He didn’t consider himself better or more worthy than the rest of them and while dying insisted on doing a world tour. It speaks volumes about his strength of character and his integrity.

... and Richie Valens, The Big Bopper, but almost Dion. Dion won the coin toss for the empty seat on the plane, but ultimately decided to give it to Richie, because he just couldn't justify the expense. A strange twist is what kept Dion alive to become as popular as he ended up being.
I remember feeling such shock and sadness when they died...just gone too soon! I didn't know that Dion was supposed to have been on that plane! Can you imagine how he felt (?!)
@Feelslikefar It always makes me especially sad when a young person dies, regardless of whether they are famous or not.
@Bretrick Thank you for letting me know who the writers of Fly Away were...I didn't know that.
@Gaer I felt devastated when President Kennedy was killed. I was sweeping when I heard the news and had to go sit down. I also felt very sad when Dr. Martin Luther King was murdered. I heard the news from fellow bus passengers when getting ready to leave the mall.

Lots of them. It's hard to find one or two. Prince was one that really made me sad. I just always loved his music. Purple Rain, Raspberry Beret, Kiss.
And because it was unexpected.

I don't know how I could have forgotten these: Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Morgan Freeman, Trevor Noah and Ramon Rodriquez (Will Trent). Also most likely anyone else who I enjoyed in shows I am (or was) a fan of.
@Sassycakes Yeah, I guess Whoopi made the list of celebrities who have been targeted for the death hoax trend.
@hearlady I couldn't believe it when my friend called and told me Prince had died. That was certainly unexpected! I had a friend who was a Prince fanatic, I know she was very upset (may they both R.I.P.).

I had Covid twice and it was a scary and sad thing when 2 of my musical heroes died of Covid.
John Prine was an extremely talented singer/songwriter in the folk/country genre and Charley
Pride was a great performer/human being in Country music .

I still watch anthony bourdain shows - he loved so many other countries ; had a lovely wife and young daughter and yet the black dog kept following him around ; he said goodnight to his best mate on a show shoot in France and died that evening alone in his hotel room; found dead next morning I understand.

Crazy, I was just thinking about him. His death hit me hard.
