Are there any safe cities anymore?

Horrific but not surprising.

Apparently started as an argument across the street. And the 90 sec wait for the kill shot. That was cruel.

An arrest was made and they want the person who took the video to come forward

Note that was about 10 am on a Monday morning. There almost no other activity going on. Available parking in a city at 10 in the morning?

What struck me was watching the video, you see, while he's loading and cocking the gun, more than a dozen vehicles drive by and even a person walk by as if nothing happened.

I thought I read the person who took the video called the police before the kill shot. But they waited until the first shot. Man with a gun in an argument should've been the call to the police.

In bad areas like that it's best not to make eye contact because that would draw attention. They might notice as they are approaching but many wont slow or take a second look to confirm because they know once the perp realizes there is a witness they'll approach them.

I don't think people, who live in rural areas are anymore saintly than those who live in the city. While, it doesn't happen with the frequency of the city, due to more people, neighbors in rural areas kill, main, poison, fire bomb, blow up, electrocute, shoot, axe to death, run over, bludgeon, strangle, just like city people.
Yup

Less reporting is also a factor
Authorities have learned to not frequent remote residences

Off somebody up in the mountains, it may or may not be discovered
if they are loners/hermits

Bury 'em deep enough, they never will

Down the road in kansas city mo, 3 officers were shot, wounded while trying to serve a warrant, all will be okay....just a sample
of kcmo....

This reminds me of a classic photo from the Vietnam War era. Could it be that the chickens have come home to roost here in the US? Unimaginably brazen-as if there is no fear of punishment by the legal system.

Hopefully there will be swift and severe punishment leveled for this horrific crime. Although I doubt it.

Are there any safe cities any more? Yes, yes there are. Don't be swayed by exploitative media, and the modern lust for ever heightening drama. We live in strange times, for sure, but now more than ever, good deals go unpublished. There's no clicks in good people and happy events, so you get the impression the whole world is a zoo. It's not so.

My advice - you control what goes into your head. If the news offends you, shut it off. Don't read the articles, don't watch the videos. Life is short - especially for those of us here - try to consume love, kindness, and happiness. Fear has no benefits.

It doesn't have anything to do with being saintly. Less people, less gangs, less criminals = less crime. It's ok that not everyone believes that. People in low crime areas don't really want more people moving in.

Can't speak for US cities but yesterday I accompanied my eldest granddaughter to an outer suburb of Sydney. Penrith is really a satellite city of Sydney and it is a relatively low income area. I've never seen so many tattooed people before.

I was waiting for GG on a seat in a large shopping mall and noticed an elderly man on the same seat. A security man was quietly questioning him but the old man was largely unresponsive. Some time later I returned and the security man was still there trying to get information. The old man seemed to be suffering from dementia and was very likely lost. My granddaughter thought to fetch him a glass of water.

The security man was unarmed. There was no aggression and enormous patience was being exercised.

There has never been any locality that is safe 100% of the time but I reckon just about anywhere I go in Sydney I have no trepidations as I walk around by myself going about my business. I also sit and observe the passing parade when I need a rest and have never seen any gun toting homicidal thugs ever. Ergo, I say that as cities go, Sydney is as safe as it gets.
