We love both and have both three cats and our dog max now .We recently lost our beloved disabled cat named bear he was our little sweetheart and my heart breaks at his loss , I miss him every day.. I never knew how much one little sweet cat could inspire and hurt someone heart at there passing . I will post some pics of ours below .. Leah

Leah, I'm sorry for your loss.

Since you asked, I don't like cats. I'm a bird person and cats are always after the birds at my bird feeders.

Cats are also cruel; they often torture their prey before killing them.

My dog would never do such a thing.

Love both, and have had both over the years. But if having to chose one over the other, I would pick a dog as my favorite for companionship.

Dogs are wonderful too

our dog max is six years old part dashound and beagle he's a sweet vocal playful boy ..Leah

We had both. All were fantastic pets. The hubby and I still reminisce about little quirks and personalities of each one. One loved pumpkin pie, another stole napkins off our guests laps when seated at the table. I could write a book. If there are jobs to be done in the place I end up after I die,I will put in for one of the caretakers of all the animals that have crossed over the Rainbow Bridge.

I think that all animals deserve a great life and some one who loves and cares about them ..Leah

I am fine with both. When I was young, we had dogs. If I could have pets now I would be the neighborhood ceazy cat lady. Unfortunatly, I have allergies, so no cats for me.

I am a Savannah cat person. They are like dogs that poop in a box, love to play fetch, walk on a leash, and love water.

Oh boy, haunted, you are a better man than me! I bought my adult daughter a Bengal after a tough breakup with a boyfriend (years ago). She finally said "Mom,you have to take her. She was wrecking my house so I had to put her outside and I`m so afraid she`s going to get hit." So I took her. I live in the country so cars aren`t a worry. Well, when she was in the house, she would roam on whatever high surface she could find. And knock off everything in her wake. Christmas tree? Forget it. She knocked it over at least 50 times. And our poor Cockateil lived in a constant state of terror. I finally had to make her an outdoor cat. She was outdoors for a few years but then disappeared one day. My neighbors happened to move that same weekend,I think she may have gone with them.

Sign up for Savannah rescue

I completely understand, Mrs Robinson! I had to reinforce my curtain rods since they considered it part of their test track, incredible jumpers. When I left my inside door open, I would find them perched on the top of the door and they got there in 1 jump from the floor. To anybody who wants one and doesn't want to pay the extremely high price, do what I did, signed up with the Savannah Cat rescue group. Just realize that they are difficult to rehome since they are a devoted part of their family. You need to keep them exclusively in your bedroom for at least a week, food, water, toys and beds. You will know when they accept their knew people when they come up and sleep with you. Then they are loyal family for the duration. The breeder also told me that if I needed to correct bad behavior (they constantly try to train you) take a spray bottle and put a mix of water and vinegar in it. Here's a pic of one of our standoffs when she tried her hardest to turn my light off with the switch.... True attitude!

I love all animals, we've had cats, but they have all gone to Heaven now. Had several good dogs pass, will always think of them fondly.

Two dogs are good to have, they need each other.....

We have had both cats and dogs, but not at the same time. I get my cat fix from my neighbor's barn cats, most of whom are very friendly. These same cats enjoy vigorously teasing my terrier, so I don't trust him around cats. Our daughter is extremely allergic to cats -- merely touching something a cat has used (like a blanket) results in her going to the E.R. for a severe asthma attack. So, terrier or not, as long as she is living with us, we cannot have a cat.

I'm a dog person. Moved here to rural area over 40 years ago and we brought our two mini Schnauzers with us. There were always two or three at a time. Over the years, there are now 9 of my beloved pets, plus my late mom's two little doggies, buried out in my field. They each have a tree or a plant marking their resting place.

I only have one dog now because I really don't think he would be happy with sharing. His name is Travis (Trav) and he's a black Giant Schnauzer. Since I'm a widow now and hearing disabled, I rely on him to be protector/guard dog/alert dog. One of the last things hubby said to me was, "You'll be okay, you have Trav".

Trav makes me laugh at least once a day and usually much more. I can't imagine not having at least one dog in the family.

I'm a dog person all the way, but, I've cared for and loved a cat or two in my day, so, I wouldn't say no to caring for one if one was put into my possession, but,

I'm a Dog person for sure. I had a cat who lived for 23 years...unpredictably mean but predictably often. I know there are some cats that are sweet. I had a Balinese cat in my early 20s that was perfect but that breed is susceptible to leukemia and it took her after only a couple of years. I was heart-broken.

I've had dogs all my life and have one now...words cannot describe how special they are to me...every one of them. They've brought so much unconditional love and joy.
