Are you a mountain person?
A coastal person?
Or a wide open spaces person?
Personally, I love the mountains. I don't know why exactly...I'm just drawn to them.
I love all 3...I absolutely hate to be penned in. I wouldn't describe myself as claustrophobic per se.. but even at home I have to have all windows and doors open...( except the front door).. or I feel hemmed in
My daughter lived in the mountains until last year and it really was a piece of heaven... the only thing missing was my home that I have at the coast.. and here I live in a rural area with fields and woodland.. so I'm lucky I had/have all 3
I love the sea shore, but only the cool, rainy, foggy kind with lots of cliffs overlooking the sea with lots of redwood trees on the cliffs. (There's a place like that about 5 hours away from here but it's too far for us to drive to anymore...and most of it's too expensive to live in anyway! )
I am a 20 min. walk to Lake Ontario. I don't have any mountains but I do like them although I doubt I could live there with my migraines. We do not have wide open spaces here although the country is not far away and I do like the forest.
I love the smell of dirt, green maple trees, grass so the mountains are a perfect view of home for me. Here is a view of Cooperstown Lake, (Baseball Hall Of Fame) less than an hour from my home.
Lived across the street from the beach with nothing to impede my view. Had an oceanfront balcony too! It has much less bug life than any place I've ever lived.
Just park me near water, be it the ocean, lake, river, bay and I'll be okay.
I like heavily forested rolling hills with lakes and streams.
The beach is nice for vacations, for hanging out on the beach drinking margaritas and reading. In my younger days, there was the pleasures of the flesh aspect. Not so much any more. And I feel like a pervert if I check out girls in bikinis who are 40 years my junior. Not that I don't check them out any more. I just feel bad about it when I do.
And the mountains are great for taking a drive and short hikes. In my younger days, I skied and mountain biked and went backpacking, as well as whitewater rafting and other mountain sports. Not so much any more. My knees can't handle it. I wouldn't be averse to a whitewater rafting trip if someone offered it to me for free, but I'm not going to seek it out. Been there, done that. I'd feel like an outcast being so much older than everyone.
