Are You A NEATNICK? I Have Been Told That I Am

One of the ladies that I dated after the death of my first wife called me MR. NEATNICK and I guess maybe I am, but I do wish I could do some things later rather than now when time is not that important. I can't stand a unmade bed, things on the floor, dishes in the sink. ring in the bathtub. burnt out light bulb etc. etc. I have this need (obsession?) to get things done now and not later. Maybe it's in the genes. My mother was the same way.

With some things I'm neat and organized to the point of being OCD.

With other's I'm a disorganized slob.

Yes,without a doubt. I am always organizing, cleaning, and when I leave for a vacation or even overnight everything has to be done. I'm sure I have some amount of OCD. It does run in the family. When I look back I wish I had spent more time with the kids and less time cleaning. A few years back I found a stray rubber band on the floor. I tossed it on top of the refrigerator, something I usually don't do. Sure enough it landed in the back of the fridge. I couldn't get it out of my mind. 2am I was in the kitchen pulling out the fridge to put the rubber band in its proper place. I am trying to get a handle on this but it's hard to do.

I used to be a real neatnik but not as much now. I have papers on the dining room table that need to be put away or thrown away. I'm doing it little by little.

I like things to be neat and clean and I try to keep it that way,

but, I'm not anal about it. I can wait for tomorrow to do something about it and I can sleep at night without it bothering me.

People who worry about things like that all seem to have HIGH blood pressure, and that can't be good. Ya think ?

I'm far from a neatnick, but I won't let things go until the house is a dirty mess. I change burnt out bulbs as soon as I discover them, I try to have all the dishes out of the sink after dinner, etc. but I don't obsess over anything like that, we live with pets and the house is very casual and comfortable....definitely not everything in it's place.

Fortunately my BP is normal and never been high and I sleeo at night because I get things done befor going to bed.

Lon, now I know why your kitchen was in such good order in the dinner photo you posted.

I'm a bit OCD, so I can't totally relax until things are in order. I don't like to get up to dishes in the sink. I usually always have everything in order, but don't let it bug me the way it used to.

What Falcon said. I do have high BP but not because of that!

That's the title that my daughter has given to me. I don't think that i have become OCD, but anything that's out of place really bugs me. If I see a tool lying about, I will ask my wife, "What's this doing here?" She will say that she just needed it for a moment and will put it back as soon as she has a chance. I then think to myself, "Well, it looks like you have a chance now." But, I don't, so I just pick it up and put it back myself. Then, my wife will say,"I would have gotten to it." And again, I am thinking to myself, "This year?"

I've always been a bit of a ' Neatnick' when I worked, my colleagues used to tease me for having the cleanest, tidiest desk in the office

I just hate mess and clutter, OCD ? I don't think so, I'm more relaxed with guests, don't care how much mess they make and don't rush to plump cushions or wash up after meal, (but when they go I've probably done it before they get their car started) ;)

My motto now that I am retired is "I do what I like, when I like and if I like".

I am not a neatnik :badgirl: but hubby is, and I resent him guilting me out with his need to instantly tidy up my coffee cup etc.
:grrr: It's my coffee cup and I might like a refill, so let me deal with it when I am ready.

I confess I am a neatnick and proud of it.
I like everything in it's proper place and no clutter. A clean house gives me a feeling of accomplishment
and after household chores are done then I can relax.
Of course if I'm not feeling well with a cold or flu cleaning gets left undone until I feel better. :)

I always organize the tools in my multi-drawer tool chest according to size and function, and I turn all the containers in the refrigerator so the labels face me.

Anything movable on the garage floor must be oriented to be square with the walls.

And there's lots more to my neat and orderly fetish!

Yes, but only to my own satisfaction. Living alone allows one to set their own standards. Two spots in my apartment - my desk and my stitching corner - would probably appear messy or cluttered to someone else because of on-going projects but otherwise it's neat and tidy.
