I read "Catcher in the Rye" when the public school I was in asked us Not to read it.(maybe the 1950s)
Salinger became one of my favorite writers. His short stories are meticulous.
These days I only read non fiction, and my favorite books are the Casteneda series , Patton's biographys,
"The Seven Pillars of Wisdom" by T.E. Lawrence ( a.k.a Lawrence of Arabia ), Chesty Puller's son's book, Lewis ,who wrote "Fortunate Son", Anything on Watergate, and J. Edgar Hoover, and "The Bible". Also '"The Gallic Wars" by Julius Caesar. In our third year of Latin we had to speak in Latin ,in the class, and our only assignment was to translate this book from Latin into English.
I had to stop buying books, they take up so much room, and my kindle holds the OT/NT Bible as well as a few other books.
I use the library more than ever so that I don't buy more books. What I have are books that are well worth re-reading
