Are you addicted to social media?

How much time do you spend on social media each day? Other than Senior Forums, which platform is your favorite?
I personally spend a lot of time on Gab. I'm a lurker on most platforms. Senior Forums is the one I post to the most.

Basically none.. I have a look on the neighbourhood App for local alerts once a day for 5 minutes .. I'll have a quick look on FB once a week to keep up again with local events.. but no chatting or befriending..and no uploading anything..... otherwise none

Definitely not. I avoid most social media. I've never had Facebook or Twitter/X, and I recently abandoned my Instagram account. I use this site, and I browse Reddit. That's about it.

Are forums like Senior Forums, social media? of course they are. While forums may differ from mainstream social media platforms in several ways, they share many of the same core features and have played a role in the evolution of the digital landscape.

Social media sites like Facebook have no interest for me, I have looked at forums that specialise around a subject like vintage fashions and MG cars, but at the risk of sounding holier than thou, they came across as being rather parochial. Senior Forums is like a friendship social circle, much more enjoyable.

Sounds like an absolutely splendid warm & fuzzy place....:p

I’m addicted to social media.
Everyday I have to sign in here and see what’s going on. I am on here from I to 4 hours a day. Average is probably about 2 hours.

Im ok with it because I can see a lot of pros in interacting with others socially online. Im not on Facebook or Twitter or Instagram or anything like that. Im on a karaoke ap and this forum. That’s it. The karaoke ap I’m not on that much. I wish I was on there longer.

I'm not a big social network person. Senior Forum is my favorite social platform. I am on fb sparingly due to me joining different groups. I have 2 fb accts. My main acct with family/friends - I haven't been up there in almost a year. I like the other one much better because no one knows me - I use that one for the groups I joined. I'm busy these days working on my inner self - mental, physical and spiritual. Reading, listening to inspirational videos, music, etc. are my go-to.

Don't expect Wikipedia to give you an unbiased view. It's not as awful as they make it out to be.
Here's some quotes from Gab:
"@TuckerCarlsonTweets Greenwald, he’s a Jew. Whether he speaks the truth or not, he’s a Jew. Look at that face. Never trust a face like that. Because even if they are your best friend, they will turn on you. It’s genetic. It’s predestined. It’s satanic."

@TuckerCarlsonTweets He's a jew, why would anyone listen to a thing that comes out of his mouth? He doesn't get to speak for Aryans."

@TuckerCarlsonTweets I mistakenly expected a handful of brave politicians would take the lead breaking down the wall of silence around Israeli and Jewish influence and control over our government, but it makes sense that social media (including Tucker's new show) are the ones doing it."

They should go F themselves. What do you think, @Youngster? You know this place.

Does GAB stand for Gentiles Against Baitsim?

I won't get into a political discussion. I look at Gab because it's a free speech platform as is Rumble, X and others. As with other platforms you pick and choose who you want to follow and who you don't.

No. But, I do admit I can waste too much time on it.
I’ve been on it quite a bit lately because of the very hot weather that is keeping me inside near the AC vent. It’s to dang hot to even take a walk around the block

Not on any social media after the rise of smartphones that also was when the term "social media' came into to use. And not do not consider older community web forums "social media" despite many in younger generations that saying such annoys them because they hear older people criticizing their focus on SM. It is significantly different. My browser multi level labyrinth bookmark list is ridiculous and I need to prune away many stale or unused links.

As a career Silicon Valley hi tech hardware electronics person usually working in engineering groups as a peon, I've been up to my neck in Internet things since it was created. Thus the term "addicted" in relation to working on computers has little meaning personally though I understand what the OP wants to discuss with those that are much like the many addicted to TVs that I also infrequently turn on. Would rather live my life than watch others do so.

"Would rather live my life than watch others do so." I wholeheartedly agree with that. My in-laws were watchers and taught their kids not to try new things. My wife doesn't care to travel. She has a fear of the unknown. Although she loves it when we arrive at our destination wherever that might be. After a few days she's ready to be back home.
