Are you afraid of Snakes? Black rat snake found inside bag of popcorn at Virginia store.

A shopper at a Virginia store was taking a bag of popcorn with a hole in it to the front of the business when a snake poked its head out from inside the snack container.

Kimberly Slaughter said she was at Shoppers Value in Kenbridge when she noticed a bag of popcorn had a hole in the upper right corner.

Well, I don't like snakes but I'm fine with them if they stay out of my space. I certainly wouldn't expect to find a snake in a bag of popcorn. I've managed to eradicate three of them, by myself, from inside my home. I wasn't thrilled about it, but I did it. 🐍mr47_04

No, but finding a snake in my popcorn would be...."off-putting".
I've kept snakes, handled many including rattlesnakes. My dog tipped me off to a snake recently in the yard, relocated him to the safe haven of a ground squirrel hole off the property.

I’m against killing snakes. If I see one at either of our homes, I will move them back to their environment. I have caught rat snakes in Florida and several garter snakes in Pennsylvania. I did grab one Copperhead in my in-laws basement that got in through an open window without a screen. My wife and I captured one heck of a long black snake out of our former neighbor’s garden and took him/her out to the woods and given the boot. Snakes are important to our environment by helping to keep the rodent population at bay. I wouldn’t attempt to capture a rattlesnake or any of the more venomous snakes. I’ll leave that to the pros.

My mother and stepfather's neighbor in the mobile home park (this was years ago) killed a rattle snake in their yard with his pistol. He must have been a good shot. He was a retired cop. Behind the park was fields.

I'll also add, I wouldn't want these snakes around my cats if they are constrictors because I'll bet they'd go after a cat. Luckily mine are indoor only.

The U.S. doesn't have any snakes large enough to consume a full-grown cat; maybe a small kitten the size of a rat. Rodents are their usual prey. Probably too slender for anything larger.

The Eastern Indigo is North America's biggest indigenous snake, growing to 9 feet, and it is found only in coastal Georgia, Florida, Alabama and Mississippi, experts say.Apr 6, 2020

The giant snakes (Pythons & Anacondas) in other countries are capable of eating larger animals.

Geeez can't you get a kittycat or a puppy like most people? LOL
He wasn't my snake. He was climbing into the kid's playground behind me. Some parents & kids were freaking out; they probably didn't know he wasn't venomous & might have killed him. Before releasing him near the mountains, I took him with me on my walk for an hour. He was very friendly & didn't want to let go; I had to unwrap him.

Look closely and you'll see the snake coming down the tree. He kept going to the other side of the tree when I was trying to get a picture. Now when I go outside I always look up too!
