Are you afraid of your computer?

No, I don't mean that ,in the middle of the night, it's going to creep up and strangle you. But, you are going to inadvertently click on something, which will screw up your computer? Do you know what everyone of those "F" keys do? If you have to change something in the "innards", do you get queasy? You know how to turn it on and easily use it, but that's the extent of your computer knowledge. That's my level. I don't know what a iYogi support block does, but I think I have one?

No. I've worked in the computer industry and written software for computers like mine. I can choose to step behind the user interface and get things done at a much deeper level, if need be. My computer is a handy tool.

My computer and I have a tenuous friendship. He (I've looked underneath) doesn't screw up, and I don't turn him off and go watch re-runs of Star Trek on TV.

I just gave him a present, too - installed Windows 10 (yeah, finally). He's a lot happier now, as am I.

Not afraid as I don't do much. I have a "grand"that can help if I screw up. I am sure my computer does a lot more than what I use it for. I do what I want and leave it alone.

No, not afraid at all!! When my power supply went out, I did surgery on it!! If I messed it up, I would have used it as a boat anchor!!
Most of my computer knowledge came from trail and error. I learned how to send pictures and other stuff by e mailing them to myself. Back in 1998, I did not even know how to turn on a computer!!

I get totally irritated when the providers change things that have been working fine for years. Makes me want to send them a package with ticking contents.

I am very scared of my computer. I wouldn't know how to even turn it on if my grandsons hadn't shown me. When I first started using the computer I went in a forum and joined. Because of some wonderful people in the forum I learned a lot. I learned how to post pictures and so many other things. but I'm still afraid of being hacked.

I understand very little about the computer and have been too lazy or disinterested to improve my knowledge. I have my daughter, SIL and 2 grandkids within voice range and they provide my technical needs. Probably if we'd lived alone, I would have improved my skills but ashamedly, I've taken the easy way out. When we're up here in the Maine woods for a month or so, I'm a bit more nervous as I prefer "hands on " help, as at home. :(

I am one of those techy geeks yall take your computer to when you screw it up. I don't like to do it online or over the phone cause yall start getting ahead of my instructions and make it harder to correct the problems. yall can bring it by my place with some soda and chips and I will fix it, oh and bring all the discs that came with it...

But what happens when it's full of pirate software, including the OS?

I remember when I first got on the internet. I called my girlfriend to tell her. She asked me what it was like. I told her I didn't know. I hadn't figured out how you did thing. But what I meant by my question is once you get used to the things you do; do you feel just as comfortable messing around with its inner workings?

yes i mess around the insides, how else do you build one if you dont??

SifuPhil:"
