Are you an "Influencer"?

How do we differentiate the "influencer" role from earlier terms, like pied piper, poser, hot-airbag, crackpot, flim-flammer, pretender, quack, bullsh++ter, 'personality kid', etc?
Now it’s supposed to be a good and prideful thing and that is a sad statement about the time we’re living in.

I was flipping through the channels, and nothing looked good. I came across a talking head and the caption was "J. Smith, Influencer". That's the first time I heard of an influencer. What gets me is that "influencers" actually think they divinely spout "truth", rather than their opinions.

In order to be an influencer, one needs the influencees. My grandson is caught up in the YouTube adventures of Salish Matter & her friend Nidal, but I forgive my grandson, he is only six. Besides, they are fun to watch!

I seem to remember a silly thing the pop-artist Andy Warhol said in the 1960s... "In the future, everyone will be famous for 15 minutes." I think Youtube has provided an opportunity along that line.

OTH, I appreciate Youtube for various music videos. And also for video-illustrated technical info that has assisted me in learning & doing quite a number of things. Still, I'm thinking Youtube and similar online sites have made Mr Warhol's bizarre fantasy into something much closer to reality.
