Are you annoyed by neighbors setting off fireworks?

I am not a fan. I once had some kind of residue landing and burning in my eye from a city fireworks display. Since then, I no longer go and watch it.
I do not mind it in the residential streets if the weather conditions are right and if it does not last too long. Not crazy about teenagers handling it without supervision or maturity!😉

My neighborhood and adjoining ones put on their own shows and sometimes they are really very good. Basically they start after the Macy's one and go on for several hours. I can see about four different ones from my windows and can hear lots more. Fireworks are illegal in NYC but on July 4th you'd never know it.

but even worse in my area is the fact that there are a number of Vietnam, Korea, and Gulf vets on my street that *do* mind. I think there should be more public service announcements concerning what those fireworks can do to veterans with PTSD. But I suppose it would probably be ignored.
That is an excellent point and one I had never thought of.

Yes, I live in the country and the neighbors on my right get out in the pasture between us and set off their fireworks, the grass in July is dry and I'm afraid of fire.
I hate it. We had to get a metal roof because illegal aerials have set a roof on fire in the past. And from across the street fireworks have hit my bedroom wall like we were in the middle of a war zone. When it was just fire crackers it was okay. A lot of smoke though and bad for people with lung or breathing problems.

And the excuse is that it is our "culture." Yeah right.

I was going to say that I prefer not to have a roof fire.

Someone in the next neighborhood over started celebrating at 10 last night. BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Didn't really bother me because I'm a night owl but it bugged the hell out of the Spousal Equivalent, who goes to bed at 9:30.

I love fireworks. I must have been Chinese in a previous life. I love the smell of fireworks, and the sound, and the view. I understand that most people and the vast majority of pets don't, thus I don't shoot off fireworks.

I know that you can pay to get your cremated ashes stuffed in the nosecone of a skyrocket firework. That's the way I'd like to go.....everyone saying ahhhhh! oooohhhhh! how BEAUTIFUL! and they're talking about ME!

Right now in Tennessee it has been very hot and dry for about two weeks, which makes shooting fireworks dangerous for everyone. Under ordinary conditions someone shooting fireworks doesn't bother me, as long as there is reasonable respect for stopping at around bedtime.

There is a public park across the road from my building. On my side of the building. Lots of gatherings and noise. And A lot of fire crackers this time of year. Park officially closes to public at 10 PM. But around now, they do not always leave on time

I am less annoyed now that I see my puppy is not fearful and stressed by fireworks. My dogs in the past were very negatively affected by the noise and displays of neighborhood fireworks. I don't like them, and we don't shoot them off, but some neighbors do whenever they can.

I also worry about drought conditions and fires starting from these fireworks, I'll have to make sure my hoses are connected in case a neighbor starts a fire. I never got a thrill from fireworks, never will.

One of our Forefathers, John Adams, thought the day would be July 2nd, but in any case, he wrote to his wife Abigail......

(Independence Day)... "the most memorable Epocha, in the History of America.—I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated, by succeeding Generations, as the great anniversary Festival.

It ought to be commemorated, as the Day of Deliverance by solemn Acts of Devotion to God Almighty.

It ought to be solemnized with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires and Illuminations from one End of this Continent to the other from this Time forward forever more. "

As for myself, I love the fireworks.
Our dogs and cats do not. Many shell-shocked veterans do not.
There's fire risk and pollution.
What to do?

It never bothered me, but now we have Lily our young adult kitty. She feared thunder, and for the first time she climbed in our sons lap. Tomorrow though is Canada day , that will scare her into his lap.

No more than sparklers allowed in the city limits by city ordinance ... and I'm okay with that.

Last 4th of July, the trashy rats across the street were setting off fireworks in the middle of the street directly in front of my house
I called the non-emergency line and reported them. They took it elsewhere except for the random one off BOOM for several days just to annoy me. So we'll see how it goes this year.

My dog hates BOOMS ... and I'm a disabled vet. That said, if I didn't have a pet with an aversion, I doubt I'd mind it much.
One can hear fireworks going off all across the town before during and after holidays. Don't think it's a high priority for the police unless someone reports it.

It’s illegal here without a permit and your average person can’t get one. Good. It’s too dry. Leading up to Canada Day there’re always a few that I can hear. My dogs would be upset.

My DD was telling me about the drone display she saw in Texas. It was incredible. Some places are starting to adopt this display.

In Vancouver a private yacht set off fireworks illegally. Set an old railway bridge on fire and caused a great deal of environmental damage
Here in New Westminster, Jules, they are allowed at Halloween and with a special permit. People set them off for any reason as sometimes hubby and I can't figure out, why there are fireworks??? I do not believe half of these people have permits. I can do without fireworks.

I usually do some sort of aerial fireworks for the 4th but like @TennVet posted,
we are extremely dry here in Tennessee.
I did go to the next county over (can't buy any in my county) and picked up a bunch of 'Tanks'.
Enjoy watching them race down the driveway.
Also got some spinning things.

One of the greatest fireworks events I've ever attended was back in the 1970's in Detroit. It was the annual joint US/Canadian celebration and consisted of seven barges in the Detroit River setting off four hours of tons of continual fireworks. At the time, it was the largest fireworks display ever. We watched from the top of the Cobo Hall parking garage, which, in retrospect probably wasn't the greatest place to watch as the sound reverberated from all the concrete surfaces.

We lasted for 2 1/2 hours and I was positive my ears were bleeding. I couldn't hear well for days. I probably did permanent damage. But, oh gracious, it was a show to end all shows!

Another great experience was the fireworks expo in Toronto, where manufacturers showed off the latest and greatest of their wares. I'll never figure out how they did some of those things.

This year, as long as it isn't pouring down rain, I'll toddle down to our little Sanford fireworks over Lake Monroe. I'm happy enough with that these days.

My father's birthday was July 4th. When I was a little boy we always celebrated with lots of fireworks. That ended when Pearl Harbor was attacked.
